Continue ReadingWe recently released updated rankings in the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026. But what would the rankings look like if we took all of those classes and threw them together? This is our Iowa Top 50 Prospects, Regardless of Class. As is the case with all of our rankings, this is a ranking based on college projection and potential, not necessarily who the 50 “best” players in the state will be this season. We continue our countdown with a look at prospects 36 through 40. (A hat tip to Scott Burgess at Prep Hoops Illinois for the idea for this series of articles.)
(36) Jaidyn Coon Jaidyn Coon 6'6" | SF Storm Lake | 2026 State IA | PF | Storm Lake | 2026
Coon is an explosive athlete with a great second leap that he uses to dominate the glass on both ends of the floor. At 6-5/6-6, he can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end, showing the ability to create off the dribble against bigger defenders, score on the block against smaller defenders, and he has added some range to his game. At our Top 250 Expo in September, he was routinely knocking down shots from deep, showing a smooth, confident stroke and range well beyond the high school line. He’ll play his grassroots ball with D1 Minnesota next season, which will be a big boost for him.
(37) Julian Manson Julian Manson 6'3" | SF Iowa City West | 2026 State IA | SF | Iowa City West | 2026
Also a standout football player, Manson is a long, athletic combo forward who can defend multiple positions and do it all offensively. He’s really good on the glass on both ends of the floor, has good hands and court vision, and is a strong finisher around the rim. If he’s able to add some consistent range to his game, he could make some serious noise.
(38) Landon Davis Landon Davis 6'8" | PF Waukee Northwest | 2026 State IA | PF | Waukee Northwest | 2026
Davis was a major stock riser in the 2026 rankings over the last six months after a great summer with Martin Brothers . He’s a high-upside combo forward who can score inside and out as well as defend multiple positions. He has a high release on his jumper, which when paired with his size, makes it difficult to contest, and a silky stroke from the arc. He’s a good team defender who rotates well and can protect the rim.
(39) Rio Aguirre Rio Aguirre 6'1" | PG Ankeny | 2026 State IA | PG | Ankeny | 2026
Aguirre is a really good offensive weapon who can fill it up in a hurry from all three levels. He has a quick release both off the dribble and the catch, and is a creative ball-handler and finisher at the rim. He’s capable of getting red hot in the blink of an eye and dropping 15 points on you in a quarter.
(40) Micah Schlaak Micah Schlaak 6'6" | PF Kennedy | 2024 State IA | PF | Kennedy | 2024
Schlaak is committed to Southwest Minnesota State, and he’ll give the Mustangs a dynamic offensive threat who can score at an efficient clip from anywhere on the floor. He didn’t shoot it from the arc very often as a junior at Kennedy, but when he did, he buried his shots with a high release on his jumper and a smooth follow through. He can protect the rim defensively, rebound on both ends of the floor, and score on the block with good footwork and touch against smaller defenders.
