Raiders Top Hosts in Day 3 Opener

Wednesday's action began with the 7th Place Game between Laurens and Spartanburg Christian. The Warriors had a bright start to the game thanks to the link-up between Luke Wagner and Ethan Linder. Wagner is a young Point Guard who did a great job of running the offense and leading the line while Linder had a terrific shooting performance with 14 Points on 4-5 3FG in the First Half. But in the second half, Laurens' defensive pressure and Spartanburg Christian's foul trouble began to make a difference on the scoreboard. The Raiders got a very balanced scoring effort in the victory as all 11 players scored. Jalen Simpson led the charge with 12 Points and 6 Rebounds followed by E'Myus Young with 7 Points and a handful of others with 6 Points in the 61-36 win.

Seneca Outlasts Boiling Springs

Day 3's closest game was Seneca vs Boiling Springs. The Bulldogs' young guard [player_tooltip player_id='1738179' first='Jyssiah' last='Foster'] had a great start to the game, hitting 3 3s in the First Quarter and 5 of his first 6 3s. Boiling Springs led for the majority of the game, until late in the 4th when Seneca made their run. 8th Grade Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2339844' first='Jeremiah' last='Hunter'] was brilliant for the Bobcats and had some very important buckets down the stretch. He led the team with 16 Points, followed by Jalen Craig with 14 Points and 6 Rebounds and [player_tooltip player_id='2670880' first='Jermaine' last='Miller'] with 13 Points and 9 Rebounds. One of the most successful departments of the game for Seneca was offensive rebounding, in particular from Craig and Miller. This was an impressive victory for the Bobcats considering Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1268064' first='Cameron' last='O'Kelley'] had just 3 points, which is something that won't happen too many times this season.

Hershberger's Big Game Sparks Mavericks in 3rd Place Game

Apart from an abysmal 3rd Quarter, the Mavericks were one of the most impressive teams at the Impact Sports Invitational on Wednesday. In that quarter they scored just 8 Points and went from leading by 13 to trailing by 4. [player_tooltip player_id='1420680' first='Braden' last='Hershberger'] had a huge impact on their 4th Quarter Comeback as he finished 19 Points including a huge corner 3 to take the lead. Chris Moore also had a solid game for Mauldin off the bench stretching the floor and finishing some putbacks on the offensive glass. Top 10 Sophmore [player_tooltip player_id='1405865' first='Nathan' last='Wilbourne'] had 7 Points and 6 Rebounds in the Maverick win.

Dorman Dominates Shorthanded Cardinal Newman in Championship Game

On paper, this Championship Game appeared to be one of the best matchups we will see this season. However, the Cardinals had just 5 players dressed out: [player_tooltip player_id='2638762' first='Manny' last='Davis'], [player_tooltip player_id='1160754' first='Josiah' last='Peeples'], Marshall Rosbrugh, Freddy Gillens, and [player_tooltip player_id='1487225' first='Desmond' last='Harrington']. They had a solid opening quarter and a half, particularly from Peeples, but when Dorman began to blitz and trap their ball-handlers it allowed the Cavaliers to get out in transition and continuously wear down the 5 Cardinals. Dorman had a balanced offensive attack as all 12 players scored and 7 of them hit a 3. Tournament MVP [player_tooltip player_id='1981683' first='Christian' last='Gentry'] led the team with 13 Points and 5 Assists in the 69-32 victory.
