In an 8am matchup with Holy Family, there was no stopping Burks from getting to the rim. He was getting just about any look he wanted to, as Holy Family simply didn’t have a defender that could matchup with his length and explosiveness on the ball. If he saw an angle to attack the basket, he was able to burst through and just glide to the rim to finish with either hand. Showed good touch on his jumper as well to keep the defenders honest. Holy Family held a lead in the second half, but Burks simply took the game over the lead a shorthanded Lakeville South team to a 6 point win in the end.
JJ has been known more for his shooting early on in his high school career, but against Farmington he stood out with his ability to facilitate. Eden Prairie has a depth of talent, and Sullivan was making sure all of them got their touches, particularly off of screens. He excelled at making crossbody passes to hit one of his forwards popping out for three, but could also thread the needle with a bounce pass if they rolled to the hoop. Still showcased his signature left handed three point shot as well, including a dagger three from the corner that insured the win against a tough Farmington team.
Nolen continues to put together a strong fall with Eden Prairie. He looks to be one of the higher ceiling prospects in the state’s 2026 class, standing out with his size and outside shooting ability. EP didn’t start a true big against Farmington, so Nolen spent a lot of time playing that role for his team. He was able to find a lot of success out of the pick & pop, showing the ability to quickly set his feet and get off a shot before a defender could close out on him. Nolen showed he can run the floor hard for transition buckets, and has the coordination to maneuver past defenders with the ball in the open floor. Really like his potential moving forward as a prospect.
At 6’7+ Brandon has one of the quickest shot releases you’ll find. Against Eden Prairie he only needed an inch of space to get off a shot, and he was hitting them at a good percentage to keep his team in the game. Outside of his shot, Brandon puts his strong frame to use to produce in the paint. He’s able to swallow up rebounds on both ends of the floor, and has a pretty quick second jump to go right back up with an offensive board and finish in traffic. I like how relentless he is fighting for rebounds amongst a crowd. Defensively he has the strength to hold his ground in the paint, and has quick feet to defend on the perimeter when needed.
Highlights
If Kole gets into a rhythm, there’s really not much defenders can do to stop him. He has such a quick release both off the catch and dribble, and is able to create space in the blink of an eye to get off a three. After knocking down a few early threes against Lakeville South, you could already hear groans from the opposing bench knowing they could be in for a long game. His shot making slowed down a bit in the second half, but he still flashed not only his three point shot, but his quick burst to get to the rim. Does a nice job of just exploding off of two feet and hanging in the air to finish with either hand. I liked how he was picking up full-court after baskets as well, and his pressure was enough to force a few mistake from opposing ball handlers.
Highlights
Lakeville South was missing a few key players, and Hudson really stepped up as an inside presence. He just always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to make plays. Whether that was making a quick cut to receive a dump off pass and score at the rim, or tracking down an offensive rebound for a putback opportunity. He played gritty defense against a taller forward and did a nice job of limiting second chance opportunities for Holy Family.
Eden Prairie did a lot of 5 in – 5 out substitutions, and even with how talented their starting five was, there wasn’t much of a drop off when that second unit came in. A big part of that was the play of Colin Kirk Colin Kirk 6’7″ | PF Eden Prairie | 2025 State MN . He looks even taller than I remember him last season at BSM, and was making plays inside and out. Colin showed he’s a legit pick & pop shooting threat, but could also put the ball on the floor and get to the rim to finish. Plays off two feet inside to go up balanced to finish. He’s a solid athlete who can defend the paint and move his feet to help out on screens on the perimeter.
