Chicago Catholic League Deepest in Years
Something that caught my attention during the summer was the depth that was emerging in the Chicago Catholic League. Which Team in Metro East Will Emerge?
The metro east area is wide open heading into the 2023-2024 season. There are a lot of quality teams, but at this point doesn’t appear to be one head and shoulders above everyone else. You always have to start with East St. Louis who lost a star but have a lot of rangy wings and forwards including Davis Bynum Davis Bynum 6'7" | PF East St. Louis | 2024 State IL and Arlandis Brown Arlandis Brown 6'4" | SF East St. Louis | 2025 State IL that impact on both ends. Shot Clock Getting Closer?
One thing to always keep an eye on is the shot clock. It seems at this point more of a when not if the state will adopt a shot clock in Illinois. There has been a big response around adding one for the last several year by some of the most powerful coaches and it was implemented last year in certified tournaments and shootouts. In all of those events it seemed well received.
