Conference Commentary
Top Ten in State: Park Center, Totino-Grace
Park Center has big name returning division one level talent, they have names coming up through the system ready for their turn, and they have another group of transfer that will give them depth and more explosive push up the floor. Park Center once again has a team that could win state championship gold. Totino-Grace will be number one in their section with six of their top ten players back from last year’s state championship team. The Eagles have a very solid chance at earning a third straight state title. As far as Park Center and Totino-Grace and who gets the edge there? Park Center has a three game winning streak in the series so they get the nod coming into the season.
Top Ten in State Potential: Osseo
This is the year to really watch out for the Orioles. They have a guard trio in Demari Larkins, Ty Swenson and Temi Denado that is going to be very tough on teams plus some veteran forwards and size that will make them versatile. This will be one of those tough veteran groups that give many teams trouble.
Compete with Most: Robbinsdale Armstrong, Rogers, Spring Lake Park
I think Armstrong has enough depth and experience this year to turn around their record. Maybe not completely flip flop the 10-18 mark but surely get close to that. They have a really nice backcourt returning in Newbern, Ware, and Fields plus some size. Rogers might be in the perfect hiding spot ready for a nice season. They have four of their top six players back from an eight-win team including their 16 point per game scorer ( Blake Dalluge Blake Dalluge 6'3" | PG Rogers | 2024 State MN ) and three of their four best players overall. Spring Lake Park lost four of their top seven but return a very, very good player in Andrew King Andrew King 6'4" | SF Spring Lake Park | 2024 State MN .
Rebuilding: Elk River
Elk River was 12-15 last year and had one of the headline wins of the season when they knocked off Park Center. It was a big moment for a veteran team, but the Elks return only one starter so there will be a ton of new faces in the line-up this year.
