All the energy and tension built up as athletes battled on both sides of the ball all morning/evening showcasing their talents for the many coaches in attendance. Let’s take a look at some of the Class of 2024 prospects that put on a show this weekend.
Jerrell is a major weapon for Atascocita when he is on the floor as he excels in multiple components of the game. He is excellent off the catch and shoot from long range or he can also shoot off the high pick and roll as well. Barron uses his long wingspan on defense to deflect passes and also block shots on the perimeter, as well as crash the boards for rebounds. Jerrell is also very vocal on defense and continues to make his presence known every time he steps on the court. He is one of the top 2024 prospects I have seen this summer in Houston that has continued to raise his stock from the summer going into school basketball season.
Zion was his usual do-it-all self this weekend in Legacy’s game 1 against Mesquite Horn on Saturday afternoon. Pipkin constantly hit pull up jumpers from long range in the face of the defense and was getting in the opponents head all game on the defensive end, applying constant physical pressure leading to several steals and transition buckets for open teammates. The recent Wichita State Shockers commit has definitely upped this play his season to a whole other level where he can always make something out of nothing. Zion is great at keeping his teammates involved and will look to lead Legacy SSS to another strong showing this school season while continuing to impress in whatever setting he plays in.
Brooks was a key player in Legacy’s game 1 on Saturday against Mesquite Horn. Brooks showed his impact on the defensive end, timing several shots and blocking them off the backboard, coming down often with snatch rebounds. Isaiah also showed his ability to push the ball in transition, beating his matchup up the floor and finishing at the rim with great efficiency, even against physical defense. Brooks is looking to make a huge impact this year at Legacy SSS as he recently transferred from Klein and is loaded with a strong supporting cast this season to help him excel his game for this upcoming season.
Allen Paul
Allen Paul
Allen was the main facilitator and playmaker in his teams Saturday evening game against Humble and he showcased his playmaking ability in more ways than one. Paul constantly set teammates up in great positions to score the basketball and was effective in controlling the pace of the game and setting the tone on the offensive end. Allen also is great shooting off the dribble and excels at incorporating the pick and roll into his game plan, often dropping the ball perfectly for his big men to finish an easy dunk or putback at the basket. Allen will continue to be the emotional leader for this Cy Lakes team as they ride into a tough schedule this scholastic season and will look to make a big splash in district play.
