Continue ReadingAmari Brown Amari Brown 6’3″ | PG Sandy Creek | 2024 State GA is back for his 4th and final season at Sandy Creek after finally taking home a state championship last year. Brown now has a ton of experience in the driver’s seat and the chemistry between he and Micah Smith Micah Smith 6’7″ | SF Sandy Creek | 2024 State #144 Nation GA will be at an all-time high. Brown is the epitome of a multi-level scorer, so effective with his floaters and soft touch around 5-10 feet out but also capable of knocking down the three-ball and the pull-up jumper. The lefty floor general feeds off paint touches and good things happen when he gets in there. Brown was an all-state performer last year and earned himself a ring as well. He’ll try to replicate that success this time around while navigating the world of recruiting.
Monroe Area doesn’t get enough credit for their great basketball, turning out college-level players year after year. 4-year starter Vonte Newell Vonte Newell 6’0″ | PG Monroe Area | 2024 State GA now holds the torch and they’ll be in good hands. Newell is one of the more elite passers I’ve seen come out of Georgia in recent years, excellent vision and accuracy with either hand. Around the rim, Newell is capable of some acrobatic finishes that really come in handy for a smaller guard like him. He can alter a game on the defensive end as well and that’s where his high motor shines. With Newell at the helm, Monroe Area could be a darkhorse contender in 3A.
Manny Green Manny Green 6’7″ | SF Cedar Grove | 2026 State GA wasted no time making his presence known at the high school level, breaking onto the scene as a true freshman and leading Cedar Grove to a 20-win season. Green now has a year of experience under his belt and some talented new pieces around him. Green’s combination of size and athleticism plays a large role in his game as he loves to attack the rim and battle on the boards. He can break down defenders off the dribble or blow past them with his quick first step. Cedar Grove looks like a clear contender for years to come behind the sophomore duo of Manny Green Manny Green 6’7″ | SF Cedar Grove | 2026 State GA and Heritage transfer Jayden Scott Jayden Scott 6’0″ | PG Cedar Grove | 2026 State GA .
Micah Smith Micah Smith 6’7″ | SF Sandy Creek | 2024 State #144 Nation GA has seen his fair share of accolades throughout his 4 years at Sandy Creek and all signs point to him landing on the all-state list again. Smith is the engine that makes Sandy Creek go and after winning the state championship as a junior, I expect him to hold the standard high. Smith is an extremely versatile forward, willing to battle inside but also capable of attacking from the perimeter where he utilizes the spin move so well. When Sandy Creek likes to play fast, Smith is one of the best rim-runners in the state. I can certainly foreshadow Smith posting some eye-popping numbers this year in both the scoring and rebounding categories.
Jackson McVey has solidifed himself as one of the best bigs in Georgia’s 2025 class, proving there’s more to his game than the 7’0 height listed. McVey is a modern stretch-5 as he shoots both the three-ball and mid-range jumper at a respectable rate. Defensively, he does a great job of protecting the rim and racks up a ton of blocks. His size and length provide a clear advantage on the boards. McVey was a double-double machine as a sophomore and I expect to see the same production if not more as a junior. Plenty of D1s have begun getting involved, Kennesaw State and Western Carolina his only offers to date.
