Jackson McVey
About Jackson
Expert Analysis
Kris Thomas | Prep Hoops Scout
McVey comes into the Atlanta player-development academy as a complete offensive weapon. He’s a paint and perimeter offensive threat. McVey is very effective in initiating contact with his defender and staying balanced in the base, creating a very reliable transition target. His dominant finishing ability around the basket through a combination of great footwork, physicality, and touch with the basketball. The 7-footer can create his shot off a face-up on the elbow and has extended his range to the 3-point line. Overtime Elite is an ideal spot to continue to develop his perimeter game while still being challenged in the paint.

Not only is McVey one of the tallest prospects in Georgia, he’s one of the more skilled center prospects as well. McVey posted some crazy stat-lines throughout the high school season with Gilmer. Now on the UAA circuit, he’s proving that can he can produce against other D1 talent as well. His size and length can change a game but McVey’s ability to hit shots from the mid-range out to the three-point line take his game to another level. Expect several MM programs to battle it out for McVey’s services this summer.

put up video game numbers this year at Gilmer, multiple games with 40+ points and 20+ rebounds. At 7’1, McVey is the tallest player I’ve evaluated in Georgia’s 2025 class. Meanwhile, he shoots it well from both the mid-range and beyond the arc. McVey is also super active inside, constantly chasing down boards and blocking shots. He currently holds offers from Kennesaw State, Western Carolina, and Western Kentucky,

Jackson McVey comes in at #12 in our latest update and has put up some eye-popping numbers through the start of the year. McVey is good for a double-double every night of the year and even posted a statline of 37 points and 30 rebounds in a game back in November. McVey is your new school stretch-5 that knock down shots from the perimeter and protect the rim on the other end. He holds offers from Kennesaw State and Western Carolina.

Jackson McVey has solidifed himself as one of the best bigs in Georgia’s 2025 class, proving there’s more to his game than the 7’0 height listed. McVey is a modern stretch-5 as he shoots both the three-ball and mid-range jumper at a respectable rate. Defensively, he does a great job of protecting the rim and racks up a ton of blocks. His size and length provide a clear advantage on the boards. McVey was a double-double machine as a sophomore and I expect to see the same production if not more as a junior. Plenty of D1s have begun getting involved, Kennesaw State and Western Carolina his only offers to date.

came into the Top 250 Expo as one of the most highly-touted prospects on the list and his play lived up to the expectations. McVey is a true 7-footer and he used that size to rule the paint on Sunday. He finished off a countless number of put-backs and tip-ins around the rim while tallying several blocks on the defensive end. McVey’s shooting touch adds another threat; however, most of his production on Sunday came inside. He currently holds offers from Kennesaw State and Western Carolina.

remains the top center in the 2025 class and rounds out our top 10 for the class. McVey is a true 7-footer that can stretch the floor and knock down shots. Dunks everything around the rim as a 7-footer should and moves well for a kid his size. Kennesaw State has offered and a number of other D1s have expressed interest.

The 7-footer is starting to pick up steam. McVey’s height alone will draw D-I attention, but his skill is much more advanced than where other near 7-footers from Georgia in the past have been at his age. McVey can stretch the floor with his three-point shot, but his bread is buttered in the low post with quality back to the basket moves. Jackson finishes with dunks and is a quality shot blocker. He averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. Expect McVey to pick up some High Major offers in due time.

‘s height gives him a clear advantage to begin with, the only 7-footer in Georgia’s 2025 class. His offensive skillset is beginning to round out and he’s shown the ability to step out and hit the three here and there. Defensively, McVey is an elite rim protector with an impressive block radius. Still a work in progress, McVey’s best basketball is still ahead of him.
