Schools in the County: Academic Magnet, Baptist Hill HS, Bishop England, Burke HS, Hanahan HS, James Island HS, Lucy Beckham HS, Military Magnet, North Charleston HS, Oceanside Collegiate, Philip Simmons HS, Stall HS, St John’s HS, Wando HS and West Ashley HS
Academic Magnet – The Raptors (9-14) must replace Walter Bauknight off last year’s squad. Bauknight averaged 22 ppg last season for the Raptors.
Baptist Hill HS (Hollywood) – The Bobcats sit outside of Charleston west of the city off of Savannah Highway. Jaden Douglas Jaden Douglas 6'4" | SF Baptist Hill | 2025 State SC is back for the season along with youngster Brayden Franklin Brayden Franklin 5'7" | PG Baptist Hill | 2027 State SC . Douglas plays his best basketball around the rim being active on the glass.
Bishop England – The Bishops will rely on Jack Van de Erve Jack Van de Erve 6'5" | SF Bishop England | 2024 State SC around the cup this season. Jack can step-out and play faceup to the basket or go to work down low on the block.
Burke HS – The Bulldogs literally sit next door to The Citadel in downtown Charleston. The Bulldogs finished last season at (15-12). Khamani Green 11.1 ppg and Terry Jenkins Terry Jenkins 6'3" | SF Burke | 2024 State SC 9.5 ppg both return to the lineup this season.
Hanahan HS – The Hawks and Head Coach Rob Mammes should have an improved team this season. Dru Goldsmith Dru Goldsmith 5'11" | PG Hanahan | 2025 State SC , Justin Maduro Justin Maduro 6'5" | PF Hanahan | 2025 State SC and Jonah Auckenthaler Jonah Auckenthaler 6'7" | PF Hanahan | 2024 State SC will be the Big 3 to watch for here on the Blue and Orange. Goldsmith a football player in the fall averaged 9.2 ppg and 3 assists last season.
James Island HS – The Trojans have a new boss this season in Travis Smith. Smith made the move over from Porter Gaud where he was assistant coach for the Cyclones. James Island HS has plenty of talent with RJ Simmons RJ Simmons 6'0" | PG James Island | 2024 State SC , Montreal Jenkins Montreal Jenkins 5'8" | PG James Island | 2024 State SC , Parker Renault Parker Renault 6'4" | SF James Island | 2025 State SC , Donyell Wright Donyell Wright 6'4" | SF James Island | 2025 State SC and Gavin Ward Gavin Ward 6'4" | SG James Island | 2025 State SC all back.
Lucy Beckham HS (Mount Pleasant) – The Bengals look to be in a rebuild this season. Harper Stephens Harper Stephens 6'4" | PF Lucy Beckham | 2025 SC in back from last season’s squad for Head Coach Andrew Glover.
Military Magnet – The Eagles finished (7-18) last season. Post player Jai’Len Williams Jai’Len Williams 6'6" | PF Military Magnet | 2024 State SC is back in the middle for the Eagles. Williams averaged 6.2 ppg and 5.7 rebounds last season.
North Charleston HS – The Cougars (15-10) have several players back for Head Coach Tony Eady. Senior guard Onarae Grant Onarae Grant 5'10" | PG North Charleston | 2024 State SC , Marcus Simmons Marcus Simmons 6'1" | SF North Charleston | 2025 State SC , Michael Jordan Michael Jordan 6'4" | PF North Charleston | 2025 State SC , Larry Jackson Larry Jackson 6'1" | PG North Charleston | 2025 SC , Ethen Cobin-Willis Ethen Cobin-Willis 6'1" | SG North Charleston | 2024 State SC and jump-jack Marco Simpson Marco Simpson 6'1" | CG North Charleston | 2026 State SC all return to the lineup for the fast-paced Cougars.
Grant averaged 11.8 ppg and led a very balanced Cougars squad. Cobin-Willis a shooting guard averaged 10.5 ppg while Simpson averaged 10.1 ppg last season as a freshman.
Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant) – The Landsharks will be right in the thick of things again his season. Senior point guard Travis Stickney Travis Stickney 6'1" | PG Oceanside Collegiate | 2024 State SC is back out front for leading the charge. Forward Jake Thomas Jake Thomas 6'6" | PF Oceanside Collegiate | 2026 State SC and sharp-shooter Carson Jones Carson Jones 6'4" | SG Oceanside Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC will provide plenty of scoring opportunities this season. Watch out for Andre Hagler Andre Hagler 5'6" | PG Oceanside Collegiate | 2026 State SC , Terence Johnson Terence Johnson 6'3" | SF Oceanside Collegiate | 2026 State SC and Abe Davinroy Abe Davinroy 6'1" | SG Oceanside Collegiate | 2026 State SC to jump in on the action this season. Johnson made the move over from Stall HS.
Philip Simmons – Senior guard Robert Watson Robert Watson 6'2" | CG Philip Simmons | 2024 State SC is back to guide the ship for the Iron Horses. What kind of support Watson have this season? Watson is the ultimate stat-sheet stuffer on the floor. He averaged 11.7 ppg, 4.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists a season ago for the Iron Horses (14-11).
Stall HS – Who’s back for the Warriors this season? Several players moved onto other schools.
St John’s (Johns Island) – The Islanders finished (10-11) a season ago.
Wando HS (Mount Pleasant) – Senior forward Kai Murdock Kai Murdock 6'5" | SF Wando | 2024 State SC is looking to have a big season for the Warriors. Murdock brings good versatility to the floor with his ability to knockdown shots.
West Ashley HS – The Wildcats return jet quick guard Damani White Damani White 5'9" | PG West Ashley | 2026 State SC to the lineup. White has had a few solid showings at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo and SCBCA Elite Camp earlier this month. Damani averaged 11.8 ppg a season ago for the Wildcats (12-15). Junior Lavelle Minus returns to the lineup after averaging 10.2 ppg and 5.9 rebounds last season from the forward position.
