The 2024 class remains to show off its depth and talented pool as a number of prospects continue to commit to DI and DII programs across the country. The Top 10 in the 2024 class remains an impressive one with the latest committing to a Big 12 school. That makes six commitments in the ACC, one in the SEC and one in the Big 12 as the No. 2 prospect Jayden Quaintance Jayden Quaintance 6'9" | C Word of God | 2024 State #11 Nation NC and the No. 7 prospect Lewis Walker Lewis Walker 6'6" | PF Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State #178 Nation NC in the state remain the only two prospects in the Top 10 that have yet to commit, though their recruitment continues to buzz and remains wide open.
The No. 3 prospect in the 2024 rankings is heading to the Big 12’s Kansas Jayhawks as he looks to continue his ascent on the hardwood. He joins a recruiting class that also includes Labaron Philon and Flory Bidunga for Kansas. Passmore quickly emerged as a game-changing wing prospect at 6-foot-5 on the PH radar who’s more than just an athletic dunker on the floor. He’s a strong-framed defender who can defend the 1-4 spots given his length and agility. Offensively, he’s a lethal slasher and an efficient shooter who can knock down shots on the perimeter and in the midrange. He’s set to have a strong senior year as Combine joins the OTE stage in 2023-24.
Birmingham is headed to the Indiana State Sycamores in the Missouri Valley Conference. He’s the second commitment in their class, joining forward Merritt Alderink as a newcomer next fall. He’s an emerging presence who can operate on both ends of the floor in a variety of ways given his length and mobility at 6-foot-8. He’ll be a new face in the Carmel Christian School lineup as they look to continue to be a power on the 4A NCISAA stage. he’s a smooth operator who’s patient with the ball in his hands and can score the ball with ease. He’s got a bright future ahead of him at the next level, especially as a perimeter presence.
Highlights
Jones climbed up the PH radar in a hurry this past offseason after joining Combine Academy and quickly turned his recruitment into a commitment to the Hofstra Pride in the Colonial Conference. He joins Amir Williams as the second commitment in their 2024 recruiting class. Jones is a two-way backcourt presence who can score it in a hurry and a blur on the defensive end given his athleticism and motor. He’ll be quite the force as he joins the likes of Rakease Passmore Rakease Passmore 6’6″ | SF Combine Academy | 2024 State #50 Nation NC and others in the Goats rotation as they join OTE on the national scene.
Akins is the first commitment in the Denver Pioneers 2024 recruiting class as they look to compete in the Summit League. He’s a dynamic floor general who should certainly change the outlook of their rotation given his ability to control things when the ball comes his way. He’s a defensive menace who can defend either guard role and isn’t afraid to mix things up on the boards. Offensively, he can handle pressure and easily turn his handling into points in the paint and behind the arc. He’s a steal at the MM level as he heads to the Summit League and into his final season at 1 of 1 Academy in the 704 area.
Amare Bethel Amare Bethel 6’3″ | PG Charlotte Country Day School | 2024 State NC is another floor general off the board as he heads to Metropolitan State University of Denver in the Division II ranks. He’s another name out of the HoopState headed to the state of Colorado out of the 2024 class. He’s an electric guard looking to turn things around for a program that went 9-13 in Rocky Mount Athletic Conference action in 2022-23 with his ability to defend full court and wreak havoc as a ballhandler and playmaker offensively. He’ll be one to watch over the next few seasons on the DII stage with potential to transfer up as he continues his development in the backcourt.
