Findlay grabs in-state trio

The Findlay Oilers have prioritized high school recruiting and have done an excellent job keeping top in state talent at the Division II level. This year they've already gotten commitments from three in-state prospects. [player_tooltip player_id='1225070' first='Steele' last='Meister'] from Newark is their first commit, Meister is a mismatch problem at the wing forward position. Up next is [player_tooltip player_id='1950570' first='Alex' last='Kendall'], who plays at Marietta High School under Head Coach Austin Gardner, who also played at Findlay. Finally is Mentor forward [player_tooltip player_id='1373984' first='Ian' last='Ioppolo'], Ioppolo is currently our highest ranked Division II commit and reminds us a lot of Jagger Landers, who scored 7.8 PPG for the Oilers as a freshman. This class continues to bring size for the Oilers who like to play a physical brand of basketball.

Mentor Duo commits to GMAC Rivals

We already mentioned Ioppolo going to Findlay but his high school teammate will turn into a college rival as Mentor wing [player_tooltip player_id='1493743' first='Matt' last='Biddell'] committed to Walsh. Walsh has been one of the top Division II programs in the region over the past few years and have a lot of in-state talent on the roster.

Casey Kaufman hits ground running at Ohio Dominican

In July, Casey Kaufman was named the new Head Coach at Ohio Dominican University, staying in the GMAC after leaving Malone. He's already secured a commitment from top prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1421141' first='Brooks' last='Laukhuf'] in the 2024 class. It looks like Ohio Dominican will be a power sooner rather than later in the competitive GMAC.

New Division II Program gets top local talent

Thomas More has recently made the move from NAIA to Division II ranks for this season and have already signed top local talent in the 2023 class with Carson Browne and Nathan Dudukovich. In the 2024 class they got Browne's high school teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1718498' first='Tyler' last='Johnson'] to commit. Look for Thomas More to continue to recruit top SW Ohio talent.

Brunswick to Hillsdale Pipeline remains strong

Hillsdale has had a lot of success recruiting prospects from Brunswick High School as most recently Kyle Goessler has ran the show for the Chargers. Goessler has averaged 9.8 and 11.0 PPG the past two seasons as he enters his senior year. [player_tooltip player_id='1708729' first='Tommy' last='Morgan'] is the next Blue Devil to head north to Michigan to play for Hillsdale.
