The 6-foot-6 senior wing has continued his development as a more capable 1v1 player and showed he can handle a pretty decent workload offensively last season. He’s got more help now as both Nick Sanders Nick Sanders 6’0″ | SG Bellarmine Prep | 2025 State WA and Jamaire Grant Jamaire Grant 6’2″ | PG Bellarmine Prep | 2025 WA transfer over to Bellarmine for the 2023-24 season. Sanders is a solid guard who can provide some scoring, and Grant should help create more opportunities for Wiggins to score off cuts and pick and rolls. Wiggins is also a kid who can defend across multiple positions and continues to show more and more athleticism as he gets older.
Luz put up huge numbers at Mt Rainier last season and was one of the higher usage players probably in the state. While I don’t think that will change this winter, he does look like someone who has figured out how to be more efficient with his touches. Luz is also a kid who showed some remarkable defensive impact at times as a junior, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take another step forward on that end as well.
Highlights
Grose goes relatively under-appreciated in large because he plays at the 2B level. However, he set a number of records last season scoring and shooting the ball and has his Napavine team in position to make a run at a possible state title. He’s a pretty well-rounded scorer who shows enough strength, quickness, and smarts to be a highly efficient 3-level scorer and someone who can help create plays for others.
Another underrated 2B player, Salme represents the Adna Pirates and is a kid capable of nearing triple-double type stats on a nightly basis. He’s got a really smooth handle, exhibits excellent anticipation across the board, and can finish with a number of shot types. Depending on how far Adna can go in his senior year, Salme could start to garner more attention this winter, and deservedly so.
We’ll keep the smaller school theme running here with a guard from the 2A Port Angeles Roughriders. Nickerson can play both guard spots, is another high-usage player, and a lot of his offensive games stems from his shot-making. He has supreme touch from the mid-range, off the dribble and pulling up, and is a guy that uses his body positioning really well to make up for any mismatch athletically. He put up big numbers last season and should make Port Angeles a tough team to play this coming season.
