The freshman guard showed no signs of backing down against the older competition. In fact, he may have been the most confident player on the floor in both games I watched, helping lead Bradford to a 1-1 record. The 2027 prospect showcased a lightning quick release on his shot from deep, and was able to create shooting opportunities for himself with his handle and off-ball movement. Really exciting player to watch with the ball in his hands because you never know what he’s going to be able to create for himself and his teammates.
Deuce McDuffie
Deuce McDuffie
Another freshman standout on the day was Deuce McDuffie of Milwaukee Rufus King. Playstyle reminds me a bit of former King standout Jordan Poole, as he’s a long shooting guard with some creativity on the ball and deep shooting range. Was able to create separation against smaller guards for shooting opportunities, knocking down a few threes in the game I watched. Also saw him take the ball on the final possession of a one point game and drain a step-back three as time expired to give his team the win. High potential prospect to keep an eye on in the 2027 class moving forward.
Elijah showcased his signature flashy passing ability creating some easy looks for his teammates in Central’s win over Tremper. He just seems to have eyes in the back of his head with some of the passes he makes, as he can sense an open teammate before anyone else in the gym. Griffin excels at looking defenders off in one direction, before passing his teammate open the opposite way. When scoring for his own he showed deep range beyond the arc, as well as a soft floater to get into the lane and finish over size.
Andy Sauer
Andy Sauer
Andy looks ready to produce at a high level as a junior for Bradford. He was already a 12.3 ppg scorer as a sophomore, but showed some moments of dominance in two fall league games. At 6’4 he can stretch the floor from three, was dangerous putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim, and was also willing to scrap for rebounds and tough finishes in the paint. His ability to move laterally at 6’4 is something that not a lot of guys can match, which allows him to blow by bigger forwards while also being able to utilize his size against smaller wings. Brought a lot of energy and toughness to the floor for his team as well.
DaRon Robinson
DaRon Robinson
St. Cats loses a lot of size from last year’s team, and DaRon looks like he’s ready to step up and fill in that void. At 6’2 he has a very strong frame and it allowed him to play much bigger than his 6’2 height would suggest. He excelled at sliding into position to make plays as a rim protector, walling up and showcasing a quick bounce to get off the floor and get a piece of a few shots. Works his tail off to pull in rebounds in traffic as well. He’s not the type of player who’s going to stand out with big scoring totals or flashy plays, but he’s willing to put in the dirty work to produce as a rebounder and tough defender.
Javion Herron
Javion Herron
Javion is another player looking to take on a bigger role for St. Cats this winter. He averaged 1.5 ppg last winter as a junior, but looks to be someone who can provide an additional scoring threat for his team. Javion will provide length on the wing at 6’2, and in the game I watched he showcased a dangerous outside shot. That outside shooting ability could be his best attribute, and will help spread the floor for some of St. Cats’ slashers to make plays this winter.
