We are a month away from the next set of updates to our Prep Hoops rankings and in looking at our notes for the Class of 2025, we can say with certainty that significant changes are coming to the junior class rankings.
A couple of highly ranked 2025s chose to transfer out of state.
However, it is the substantial number of talented prospects who chose to reclass into Pennsylvania’s 2025 graduate year that will cause the most changes.
Meanwhile other noteworthy 2025 prospects transferred to Pennsylvania schools from out of state.
Obviously, all of these “new” 2025 prospects will need to be accounted for in our upcoming rankings.
Below is a preview of some of the changes to expect in the next update to the Class of 2025 rankings when it is published in October.
Top 50 prospects who will be exiting our Class of 2025 rankings:
No. 7… Alier Maluk Alier Maluk 7'0" | PF Long Island Lutheran | 2025 State #62 Nation NY – has transferred toLong Island Lutheran (NY).
No. 21… Dywane Chess Dywane Chess 5'11" | SG Liberty-transferred | 2025 PA – has transferred to St. George’s School (RI).
Top prospects who reclassed and will enter our 2025 rankings in October:
Su-Meer Alleyne Su-Meer Alleyne 6'4" | SF Friends Central | 2025 State PA – transferred to Friends Central and reclassed into the 2025 graduate year.
Caleb Alston-Nelson Caleb Alston-Nelson 6'7" | PF Academy of New Church | 2025 State PA – transferred to Academy of New Church and reclassed into the 2025 graduate year.
Matt Gilhool Matt Gilhool 6'11" | PF William Penn Charter | 2025 State #76 Nation PA – transferred to Penn Charter and reclassed into the 2025 graduate year. He is a nationally ranked prospect who holds a dozen DI offers.
Jamal Hicks Jr Jamal Hicks Jr 6'2" | CG William Penn Charter | 2025 State PA . – transferred to Penn Charterand reclassed into the 2025 graduate year.
Thaddeus Lee Thaddeus Lee 6'7" | PF Mercersburg Academy | 2025 State PA – transferred to Mercersburg Academy and reclassed into the 2025 graduate year.
Namisse Musonge Namisse Musonge 6'5" | SF Abington Friends School | 2025 State PA – transferred to Academy of New Churchand reclassed into the 2025 graduate year.
Zamir Parker-Barnes Zamir Parker-Barnes 6'4" | CG Abington Friends | 2025 State PA – transferred to Abington Friends and reclassed into the 2025 graduate year.
Noteworthy additions to our upcoming Class of 2025 rankings:
Everett Barnes Everett Barnes 6'9" | C Father Judge | 2025 State PA – this 6’9” former standout at Burlington City (NJ) is now on Father Judge’s roster. In 2022-23 Barnes averaged 9 points and 7.5 boards per contest.
Hayden Johns Hayden Johns 6'6" | SF Perkiomen School | 2024 PA – Perkiomen School brings in a 6’6” shooting guard from Canada who drained threes at a 46% clip last year for Kitchener Impact.
Kodi Johnson Kodi Johnson 6'6" | SF Phelps School | 2025 State PA – a prolific scorer (23 ppg.) for Olympus Prep in New Jersey last season, Johnson (6’6”) transferred to Phelps School and reclassed into the 2025 graduate year.
Matt McCarthy Matt McCarthy 6'2" | SG Episcopal Academy | 2025 State PA – Archmere Academy’s (DE) top scoring guard transferred to Episcopal Academy and entered the Class of 2025. In 2022-23 McCarthy scored a season high 25 points vs. Concord (DE).
Tylar Okai-Koi – Phelps School has also added this talented combo guard (14 ppg. & 4 apg. in 2022-23) who played at New Explorations STM (NY) last year.
Brandon Russell Brandon Russell 6'5" | SG Archbishop Ryan | 2025 State PA – Archbishop Ryan’s lineup adds even more depth by bringing in this 6’5” point-forward. Last season Russell posted 15 ppg., 4.7 rpg. and 5 apg. at Pennington School (NJ).
Tommy Vaughn, Jr Tommy Vaughn, Jr 5'11" | CG Phelps School | 2025 State PA . – one of Delaware’s most gifted scoring guards transferred from Sanford HS to Phelps School. Last winter Vaughn registered a career high 39 points (7 threes) vs. Wilmington Christian (DE).
