Expert Analysis
Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
With his team a bit shorthanded due to injury, Hicks came out aggressive and set an early tone with his two-way play. He was a bully working his way downhill for strong and athletic finishes, while guarding the ball with fervor to work to turn opposing guards over. Hicks knocked in a 3 for good measure and grabbed PC’s biggest lead at 20 with a runout dunk that really captured momentum. His team-first approach on both ends should give him a chance to get on the floor early at the next level.

Jamal Hicks got off to a great start, like much of this Penn Charter team. Jamal is a great athlete and an active defender. Jamal shot the ball well and made a lot of nice passes. Jamal finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

I first watched Jamal Hicks at the MLK Classic in January, and he was one of the most impressive guards. Jamal is a knockdown shooter and is fast with the ball in his hands. He shot the ball well in Penn Charter’s win over PVI, missing only one shot from the field and finishing with 15 points. He also had an excellent game in a blowout loss to Bullis with 14 points.
