“Shake” West has the perfect skill set and swagger for the up-tempo action at the Donofrio Classic. On Tuesday night West (Northwestern commit) exploded for 38 points (6 3PM) and did so with extraordinary showmanship. West laced threes of every variety. His fadeaway threes and triples coming off double crossovers were especially amazing. West also scored off the dribble repeatedly. He smoothly executed hesitations and crossovers to get to the rack for buckets. West finished several of attacks on the rim with reverse lay-ups in traffic. Plus, West displayed his creative distributor side as dropped no look dimes in the lane as well as cross-court kick outs to open shooters.

West is the No. 6 ranked prospect in our 2025 rankings as well as a Northwestern commit. So, it should not be a surprise that he posted 27 points last night for Penn Charter. The fact that West hung 27 on a talented and well coached SCH Academy team was the noteworthy part. Last night West drained 5 threes (5 of 8 3PA) and converted on several fast break opportunities too. Plus, West dropped 5 dimes and grabbed 5 rebounds in the win over SCHA. However, West’s two made free throws with under one second remaining in overtime which sealed the victory for PC may have been the most impressive part of his night. Northwestern got an absolute steal in this steal in this multi-skilled guard with a tremendous basketball instincts.

Penn Charter and Jackson Reed’s game was over after the first quarter, and Penn Charter put on a show. Penn Charter’s passing was fantastic, and it was a big reason they were so good at shooting from three. Jake West is a player that always impresses me when I watch him, and he was great today. Jake is a great shooter and moves the ball well. The Northwestern commit plays both guard positions well and finished this game with 20 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

West (14.3 ppg last season) holds a large pile of offers and has taken visits to school such as Villanova and VCU. So, we imagine that a verbal commitment is not far off. In the meantime, college coaches should be all over this dynamic point guard who was a 1st Team All-Inter-Ac selection in 2023-24. This summer West continued to play outstanding ball and registered impressive performances at EYBL circuit stops such as EYBL Kansas City and the Peach Jam. West is a fast and athletic guard with sneaky hops who is a complete playmaker. He can score and distribute in transition or in the half-court. West is also a willing defender and a plus rebounder.
