Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Camara provided valuable depth for Penn Charter with his ability to stretch the floor and knock down perimeter shots. He is shot-ready on the catch, and when his feet are set, there is a strong likelihood that the ball is finding the bottom of the net. He showed a good understanding of how to utilize ball screens within the flow of the offense, creating space for himself and keeping defenses honest. Camara also contributed on the glass, securing rebounds and immediately looking to push the pace in transition. As he continues to develop, I would like to see him become more of a threat as an off-ball slasher in the half-court, using his shooting gravity to create opportunities at the rim. Playing off two feet more consistently when attacking the basket would also help him improve his balance, decision-making, and finishing ability. With his shooting touch and ability to impact the game in multiple areas, Camara has a solid foundation to continue building upon.

Camara showed he could get into the lane at will off the dribble. He was able to score inside. He showed he could score from behind the arc. He led Reading in scoring with 15 points with 9 in the final quarter. He plays with great tenacity and flys around on both ends of the floor. Camara has no problem getting into the mix.

A multi-sport athlete, Camara plays point guard like he plays cornerback — with physicality and a mental edge. He bullies opposing guards at point of attack, pushing them off of their slots/lines. Then, when he’s not pulling up from deep, Camara forcefully drives and creates contact at the rim for and-one opportunities.

Reading graduated their top two scorers from 2023-24 (including Berks POY Yadiel Cruz), so this year Camara will make the jump from role player to primary option. As a freshman he averaged 8 points per night and popped 23 triples on the season. Camara is a legitimate three-point threat, but he is especially dangerous when he puts the ball on the deck and gets paint touches. Once he is in the lane, Camara can unleash a floater, convert on lay-ins through contact, execute kick outs and drop a dime to a teammate on the blocks. On defense, Camara is a menacing on-ball presence who generates steals and deflections.
