Another big man who can space the floor as a shooter- Gilhool had a breakthrough AAU season. He was at his best in pick and roll situations, where he either caught and scored it at the rim, or popped and knocked down top of the key threes. Daniel has had the tools to be a high level producer since first entering the high schools ranks, and now things seem to be coming together for him.

Gilhool strung together flashes of skill as a stretch forward that elevated his team on both ends. He established his touch from deep early with threes from the top of the key and the occasional long two. Playing off of his jumpshots, he pressured the rim off-ball by rolling and playing off the catch. Catching the ball on the move unlocked his passing ability, going high-low to whoever was in the low post or kicking back out to someone ready to fire from the corner. Furthermore, Gilhool paired the floor spacing with some rim protection on defense, altering attempts inside and pulling away a few rebounds.

The finished product is still a ways away, but stepping into a marquee role at PC after a year in the shadows, Gilhool continues to show promising signs of putting the pieces together. A modern inside-out threat in the frontcourt, the southpaw is still very thin, but impresses with his toughness and willingness to get his length in the mix consistently as a rebounder and rim protector. He blends that defensive paint presence with a smooth perimeter skillset offensively, making quick high-feel decisions on catches along the arc from a variety of situations and showing a dangerous stroke as a floor-spacer to drag opposing bigs away from the paint. He’ll have to start to add functional strength as he matures, but Gilhool’s versatility, natural feel, and quiet competitiveness in the frontcourt make for quite the intriguing long-term prospect, particularly with a move back into the class of 2028.

In 2024-25 Gilhool was a valuable bench piece for a Penn Charter squad that won the Inter-Ac title. Starting this month, Gillhool will be asked to make significantly bigger contributions for the 2025-26 Quakers. From what I saw this past weekend at the Rare Footage Pre-Live Event, this lefty stretch-4 prospect is ready for that promotion. Gilhool used his tremendous size and soft touch to score in close with flip hooks and bunnies off the glass. He also crashed the offensive boards for rebounds and then converted on those second chance opportunities. His solid frame allowed him to score through contact. Gilhool’s length also allowed him to drain threes over the top of defenders. Recently the new coaching staff at La Salle sent Gilhool an offer. 

In 2024-25 Gilhool was a valuable bench piece for a Penn Charter squad that won the Inter-Ac title. He is a developing stretch-4 prospect with tremendous size and great hands. The new coaching staff at La Salle sees the tremendous upside in Gilhool because they just sent an offer his way.
