PHI Freshman Showcase: Scotty B’s Team 1 and Team 2 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The PHI Freshman Showcase was over the weekend at Supreme Courts.&nbsp; This is a great chance for incoming freshman in the class of 2027 to get on our radar before their first year of high school basketball.&nbsp; We will have wall to wall coverage of the event.&nbsp; Here is a breakdown of the prospects that stood out on a pair of teams in <strong>PHI Freshman Showcase: Scotty B's Team 1 and Team 2 Standouts</strong>!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><u>Team 1</u></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125658' first='Kendall' last='Meyers'] (Marist)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Meyers showed a ton of potential!&nbsp; The 6'3” two guard has long arms and a great frame to continue to add strength.&nbsp; Crisp ball handler that won off the dribble with ease scoring with creativity at the cup in both transition and using his blow by ability in the half court.&nbsp; Finished well in traffic.&nbsp; Crisp pull up mid-range game, threw a bullet pass to a cutter, and even finished in a pick/roll situation.&nbsp; One of the better prospects we saw at the event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125668' first='Nedas' last='Venckus'] (Lockport)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Came away very impressed with this 6'0” Lockport shooting guard.&nbsp; He is an absolute flame thrower from distance as he consistently knocked in three after three both off the catch and pulling up.&nbsp; Elevation on his shot.&nbsp; Shoots it with a ton of confidence and flashed some passing flair.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125632' first='Gavin' last='Radmer'] (Richmond Burton)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This 5'10” guard proved to be a very crisp ball handler which allowed him to live in the lane.&nbsp; Got to the cup and finished with floaters along with flashing as a shooter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125586' first='Ben' last='Gillmar']</strong> (Wheaton North)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At 6'4” Gillmar projects long-term probably as a power forward.&nbsp; Was most effective as an offensive rebounder that got on the glass and was also a solid shot blocker.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><u>Team 2</u></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Malachi Ransom (Simeon)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This 5'10” Simeon point guard was a force defensively.&nbsp; Really liked his intensity on that end of the floor with his quick hands and pressure that he put on the ball.&nbsp; Offensively the southpaw has creative handles breaking down the defense on drives while also using his speed in the open floor.&nbsp; Best play was a spin move that he finished with a 12 foot jumper.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125689' first='Tyler' last='Cibulka'] (Benet)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Benet has a ton of young talent and this is another to watch.&nbsp; The 6'0” guard has a high motor with that can hit a three off the catch, finish dump offs, and cut off the ball.&nbsp; Did the little things well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ryan Hendricks (Audubon, WI)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tiny 5'5” guard is a lefty that can really go.&nbsp; Thin frame with the ability to change gears on a dime keeping the defense off balance.&nbsp; Got to the rim for finishes and floaters along with banking in a three.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
