That court is on the campus of Cox Mill HS in Concord, North Carolina. It is the home of the 4A Chargers and there have been notable names that have played on said court that have gone on to national prominence either in college or the pros. Those include North Carolina’s Leaky Black and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Wendell Moore who played his college ball at Duke.
Noteworthy names from both Carolinas will be on hand. Here is a look at a few of those names.
Razam Alqasas
Razam Alqasas
When Alqasas begins his freshman campaign with the 4A Warriors, he will be part of an Indian Land team that finished with a 19-8 mark in 2022-23. The Warriors graduated four seniors from last season’s rendition, meaning he will look to fill one of those voids from last season’s team. Alqasas has ran on the grassroots circuit with Team Charlotte UAA 2027 as well as with D1 Sports Academy. Alqasas combines a 6-foot-3 stature with an impressive wingspan that comes in handy on both offense and defense. He understands how to put the ball through the hoop either by attacking the rim, draining his attempts from midrange or from 3-point land.
Prep Hoops has seen plenty of Britt throughout the summer. He was one of our top performers from the team camp at South Carolina and also stood out at the Sizzlin’ Summer Shootout which used Bob Jones University (as well as Greenville and Legacy Early) as sites. One of the hallmarks of Britt’s game is his ability to drain his attempts from the field. He has plenty of confidence in his shotmaking ability and that proves itself from mid range and long range. Britt made his presence felt last season for the 5A Gamecocks in his eighth grade campaign and one can expect a lot more from him as his career blossoms.

Chase will be one of the taller participants on the boys side of the ledger as the Wake Forest standout comes in at 6-foot-4. During the spring and summer months, he has ran on the grassroots circuit with Team Curry. Chase can set himself up to receive passes from behind the perimeter and he is likely to take and make those attempts. That 6-foot-4 frame he presents also comes in handy when doing work on the boards and showcases his overall versatility. The Cougars turned in another stellar season by recent Wake Forest standards as they finished with 18 wins – their same win total as 2021-22.
Ethan Daniel
Ethan Daniel
Daniel will be among those who will not have far to go in order to get to this year’s Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase. He wears the uniform of 3A Forestview HS (in Gastonia) during the winter months and the event will emanate from Cox Mill on the opposite end of the Charlotte area. Daniel is another that presents a noteworthy height as he stands at 6-foot-2. Daniel will look to fill the sneakers of one of the three seniors that graduated from last season’s Jaguars rendition. When the season begins, Daniel will be under the tutelage of first-year Forestview coach Steven Bartlett, who previously served as an assistant under Chris Rayfield who stepped down after eight seasons at the helm.
