10. Derrick Green Derrick Green 6'10" | C Fayetteville Acadamy | 2024 State NC – 6’9 – Fayetteville Academy
Green is a big man that finds himself looking to stay healthy and consistent given his upside as a presence as a defensive stopper and strong finisher in the painted area. He produced 8.2 PPG and 4.1 RPG on 67 percent shooting from the field this past season. He appeared in just 14 contests for the Eagles before suffering a knee injury halfway through the year. If he can stay healthy in 2023-24, he’ll be a name that DII programs, especially HBCUs need to get eyes on at Fayetteville Academy in the 910 region this season.
9. Greg Ehlinger Greg Ehlinger 6'9" | C Panther Creek | 2024 State NC – 6’8 – Panther Creek High
Ehlinger returns for the Catamounts in 2023-24 looking to have a much stronger outing after getting his feet wet off the bench this past season. He’s a sizeable big man at 6-foot-8 that makes his presence felt with his ability to alter shots and rebound the ball at volume. He averaged 3.9 PPG, 3.4 RPG and 1.0 BPG in 2022-23 with Panther Creek. He returns as a solid DII/DIII prospect and NC Wesleyan, Mountain Gateway CC, Goldey- Beacom College has offered him as he heads into his final season of high school ball.
8. Brayden Crump Brayden Crump 6'8" | C Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State NC – 6’9 – Winston-Salem Christian School
Crump has bounced back tremendously from an injury that took him off the floor for the 2021-22 season. Since then, he’s shown he’s just about back at 100 percent as he heads into a pivotal senior campaign. He’s a 6-foot-9 prospect that knows how to play with a ton of energy as an attacker in the paint. He’ll look to anchor the Winston-Salem Christian frontcourt this season with his ability to defend multiple spots on the floor and knock down shots in the stretch-big role. He’ll be a sleeper name for DI programs to jump on this fall.
7. Makoi Mabor Makoi Mabor 6'11" | C Gaston Christian | 2024 State NC – 6’11 – Gaston Christian School
Mabor continues to grow on the PH radar as the No. 8 big man in the 2024 class. He emerged this past season with Gaston Christian on the NCISAA, finishing the year with 12.7 PPG, 10.2 RPG and 2.8 BPG on 58 percent shooting from the floor. He’s a 6-foot-11 big man with raw talent for being in the right spot as a rebounder and shot-blocking threat. As he gets stronger and figures out the speed of the game, he’s a prospect that’s got dangerous potential as a long-term two-way menace at the DI level. Mercer, Winthrop, Hampton, North Carolina A&T are a few of his eight offers.
6. Wyatt DeGraaf Wyatt DeGraaf 6'10" | C Cary Academy | 2024 State NC – 6’9 – Cary Academy
DeGraaf is another big-man prospect in the 2024 class that continues to climb up the PH radar and show his development. He continues to show off his more aggressive side as a presence in the paint as he starred for Grassroots NC this past grassroots cycle. He returns to the Chargers after averaging 11.1 PPG, 8.8 RPG and 1.1 BPG in 2022-23 and should be a breakout prospect for them out of the 919 area in 2023-24. He’s a big man prospect to get to know given the promise he’s shown in the painted area heading into his final year of high school ball. Shaw University has offered him.
5. Chol Machot Chol Machot 7'0" | C Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State NC – 7’0 – Winston-Salem Christian School
Machot is another name in the Winston-Salem Christian frontcourt to keep an eye on given his pedigree for operating around the rim. He’s a 7-footer that uses his length in a variety of ways to make his presence felt on the floor. He made quite the impression at this year’s Triad First48 County Clash for his respective squad. He’s a mobile prospect that’s shown he can handle the ball, finish around the rim and knock down shots with consistency. He’s set to make quite the debut when the 2024 rankings officially update in late September. TCU, VCU, High Point, Missouri, Sam Houston State, Jacksonville State and San Jose State have all offered him.
4. Michael Marcus Jr Michael Marcus Jr 6'9" | C Covenant Day | 2024 State NC . – 6’9 – Covenant Day School
Marcus is a big man that’s seen his stock rise a ton over the past few months on the recruiting trail in North Carolina’s 2024 class. He’s an emerging big man that’s shown he can hold his own in the paint and make things happen through contact given his strong frame and length at 6-foot-9. He put up 7.1 PPG and 4.0 RPG on 49 percent shooting from the floor in 2022-23 with Carmel Christian. He’ll be a new face at Covenant Day School as head coach Michael Laney leads on the sidelines. Rice, Lehigh and Boston are a few of the DI programs that have offered him so far as he heads into a competitive NCISAA environment on a new squad in 2023-24.
3. Ebrima Jabbi Ebrima Jabbi 6'10" | C Combine Academy | 2024 State NC – 6’10 – Combine Academy
Ebrima Jabbi Ebrima Jabbi 6'10" | C Combine Academy | 2024 State NC is the first name in the Combine Academy frontcourt to get to know. They’re another national squad that’s got a ton of talent in their frontcourt at their disposal as they move to the OTE stage this fall. Jabbi is a big man prospect that’s shown he can hold his own on both ends of the floor in the painted area and is worth a look from DI programs. He should see his stock rise very soon once coaches get eyes on him.
2. Erich Harding Erich Harding 6'10" | C Combine Academy PostGrad | 2024 State NC – 6’10 – Combine Academy
Harding is a long, wiry big man that can operate as a versatile presence on the hardwood at 6-foot-10. He’s the No. 3 Center/Big to get to know in the current rankings. He should emerge into quite the role for Combine heading into his final season after appearing in 15 games this past season for them. He’s improved tremendously with Team Charlotte UAA on the grassroots scene as an ever-moving presence that can operate inside and out on both ends of the floor. He’s another sleeper name for DI programs to get to know as Combine looks to make a splash on the OTE stage this season.
1. Kany Tchanda Kany Tchanda 6'9" | C Sunrise Christian Academy | 2024 #295 Nation NC – 6’9 – Winston-Salem Christian School
Tchanda checks in as the top center-forward to get to know, and it’s worth noting, he’s not just a paint presence. He can stretch the floor, handle the ball and make things happen in space from the perimeter. He had a decent showing in the Team United frontcourt on the EYBL stage this past season. He finished the 2023 season with 8.2 PPG and 5.6 RPG on 41.1 percent shooting from the field. He’ll look to do more damage in the Winston-Salem Christian frontcourt given his versatility and ability to operate from the wing.
