Continue ReadingI’ve returned to the Hoosier state from a week long trip between North Augusta, South Carolina and Rock Hill, South Carolina which means it is time to start emptying out the notebook from my time spent in the southeast. I had the opportunity to watch many of the best prospects in the country, interact with a who’s who of college coaches, and see a really high-level of basketball be played at two of the premier grassroots events in the country. However, first and foremost, I run an Indiana-based scouting service and cover the state where basketball means more than anywhere else in the country so my time was always focused on Indy Heat , Indiana Elite, and the other Indiana-based teams and prospects participating in the events. Let’s dive on in to six takeaways from the trip as it pertains to Indiana specifically.
K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN Continues to Show Out
During his junior season, K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN (Ben Davis H.S. 2024) battled a bit of an injury that kept him out of three games, but still averaged 8.4 points per game for the 33-0 Class 4A State Champions. He wasted know time in the spring proving that he was fully healthy and ready to take on an expanded scoring role going into his senior year. Windham was lights out through four Nike EYBL sessions for his Meanstreets squad culminating in a trip to the Peach Jam. On the biggest state in grassroots basketball, the 6’3″ left-handed guard did not disappoint. In pool play, Meanstreets went a perfect 5-0 before coming up just short in tournament play in New York Renaissance, 65-61.
For the week, Windham was the team’s second leading scorer averaging 14.8 points per game including putting up a team-high 20 points in the loss on Saturday. Additionally, the sharpshooter continued his excellent summer from deep going 20-49 through six games played. Windham is well over 40% from three on the summer. That elite shooting ability, along with consistently winning basketball games, has led to the guard’s offer list expanding rapidly. His most recent offer came on Sunday from Duquense, but his list now sits at a total of 14 Division I opportunities. Will he break into the high-major ranks? Only time will tell. However, either way, Windham has proven himself as a winner and one of the elite shooters in the Midwest.
The Summer of Evan Haywood Stays Hot
You just can’t say enough at this point about how well Evan Haywood (Brebeuf Jesuit 2024) has been playing this spring and summer. He got his name on the radar in the spring with consistent big-time scoring numbers while playing with Progeny 2024. Then, he really blew up in the month of June playing with his high school team. That saw his first offer from Saint Francis come in quickly followed by Division I offers such as Le Moyne and Southern Indiana.
For the month of July, Haywood decided to join EG10 for their trip out to Rock Hill, South Carolina for the Adidas Gold Championships. The 6’4″ guard once again made an immediate impact putting up the same huge scoring performances as before while also leading his team to a spot in the Final Four. I had the opportunity to watch Haywood on Thursday evening alongside a handful of Division I programs where he scored 19 points in a win over Indiana Elite Team Indiana. There was a stretch were he absolutely went off knocking in consecutive three-pointers from deeper and deeper beyond the arc. On Friday, he came back and poured in 32 points which earned him an offer from Appalachian State. Middle Tennessee State joined the fray on Saturday. Butler head coach Thad Matta watched two of his games as well. Don’t expect the summer of Evan Haywood to stop anytime soon.
Indiana Elite 15u Proves Themselves at 3SSB Championships
Admittedly, prior to this weekend, the Indiana Elite 15u didn’t have much of a Hoosier-state feel to it. In fact, the only Indiana native on the roster was Reggie Hinton Reggie Hinton 5'10" | PG Gary West Side | 2026 State IN (Gary West Side H.S. 2026). However, the decision was made to call up a couple of additional Indiana prospects for their trip to the 3SSB Championships and that proved to be an excellent move. 6’3″ wing Keaton Aldridge Jr Keaton Aldridge Jr 6'4" | SF Cathedral | 2026 State IN . (Cathedral H.S. 2026) immediately became one of the most productive players for Indiana Elite 15u using his excellent strength, finishing ability, and craftiness inside to dominate opposing defenders. He scored 17 points in the championship game as a go-to scorer for the team.
Additionally, Ethan Roseman Ethan Roseman 6'0" | PG Bishop Chatard | 2026 State IN (Bishop Chatard 2026) was more than solid in his weekend at the 3SSB Championships. Typically used to filling a primary scoring role, Roseman averaged 14.2 points per game as a freshman and was the leading scorer for Indiana Elite-Aldridge, the true point guard stepped into a different role with his new team and filled it seamlessly. Roseman does a great job of facilitating, playing without turning the ball over, and brought some solid on-ball defense as well. He is a high IQ point guard that proved he can play the role of floor general as well as go-to scoring threat.
Finally, the veteran of the team, Reggie Hinton Reggie Hinton 5'10" | PG Gary West Side | 2026 State IN provided an offensive spark when needed for Indiana Elite 15u on their way to the title game. He is explosive off of the dribble, elevates very well on his jump shot, and has potential as a multi-level scoring threat. It was good to see the team play their best basketball of the summer while having more Hoosier state representation.
Indy Heat 15u Impress at EYBL
Speaking of Indiana natives having success at the 15u level, the Indy Heat 15u program was the only one within the organization to qualify for the Peach Jam. They proceeded to go 3-2 on the weekend with one of their losses coming by just one point against a loaded Expressions team. Through the four Peach Jam games were stats were kept, Ohio product Marcus Johnson led the team in scoring, but several Hoosier state natives were balanced behind him. 6’6″ forward Brennan Miller Brennan Miller 6'7" | PF Lawrence North | 2026 State IN (Lawrence North H.S. 2026) had a bit of a coming out party averaging 10.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. His physicality around the basket allowed him to hold his own on the glass against some bigger defenders while his versatility on offense stood out. Meanwhile, Dezhon Hall Dezhon Hall 6'3" | PG Pike | 2026 State IN (Tindley H.S. 2026) had his playmaking ability on display averaging 9.5 points in those four games while both Justin Curry II Justin Curry II 6'4" | SG Noblesville | 2026 State IN (Noblesville H.S. 2026) and E.J. Hazelett E.J. Hazelett 6'7" | SF Franklin Central | 2026 State IN (Franklin Central H.S. 2026) added 8.3 points per game. This is a really talented group that features half of Indiana’s Class of 2026 top 10 prospects.
Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN + Under-the-Radar Indiana Elite 17u Standout
No matter the competition, no matter the stage, Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN (Kokomo H.S. 2024) plays with a nonstop motor and proves that he is one of the best players in the country. The 6’9″ five-star center finished the weekend with a dominant 30-point performance in a 73-72 win over Mass Rivals. He had a high-profile matchup with fellow 5-star big man Jayden Quaintance that proved to be the best matchup he has faced yet since bursting onto the scene, but still put up a team-leading 13 points in the game. Bidunga is, for my money, the best prospect in the Class of 2024 after having seen pretty much all of the Top 10-20 prospects over the last week.
While Bidunga stuff the stat sheet and once again caught most of the headlines, it was Braden Walters Braden Walters 6'6" | PF Terre Haute North | 2024 State IN (Terre Haute North H.S. 2024) who stood out beyond the boxscore. The 6’5″ guard isn’t going to wow you with his scoring numbers, but he ended up playing crunch time minutes for Indiana Elite 17u throughout the weekend because he handles the ball, facilitates, and understands how to excel in his role. Walters plays like a “point-forward” where he can initiate offense on one end while rebounding and being able to guard multiple positions on the other. Several college coaches from a variety of different levels were taking notice in Rock Hill.
Jeffersonville Trio Leads Indiana Elite Team Tradition 16u
As sophomores, Tre Singleton Tre Singleton 6'7" | PF Jeffersonville | 2025 State #225 Nation IN , Michael Cooper Michael Cooper 6'2" | PG Jeffersonville | 2025 State IN , and P.J. Douglas P.J. Douglas 6'4" | SF Jeffersonville | 2025 State IN averaged 13.5, 13.1, and 12.8 points per game respectively while leading Jeffersonville to a 13-9 record. Shawn Boyd Shawn Boyd 5'9" | PG Jeffersonville | 2025 IN , who also plays with Team Tradition, added 5.5 points per game. Now, all four of those guys are key pieces for this team that dominated the Adidas Gold circuit and earned a spot in the 3SSB Championships. They finished their trip to Rock Hill with a 3-3 record proving they belonged alongside side some of the best teams in the county. Singleton provides excellent size at 6’8″ while rebounding at a high level and scoring around the basket. Cooper is a big-time shot maker off of the dribble. Douglas is a versatile 6’4″ wing that can initiate offense on the perimeter while having the size to finish inside. Finally, Boyd is a solid table-setting point guard for the team. You’ll want to remember the names of these rising junior Jeffersonville prospects.
Other Leftovers
- (Delta H.S. 2024) had a breakout performance on Saturday morning with me in attendance as he scored 28 points, mostly coming in the second half where he just got to the basket time and time again. The 6’4 wing is big and strong on the perimeter, handles the ball well, and is really dangerous in transition. It was a good weekend all-around for Indiana Ice 17u.
- It was a tough showing in North Augusta for Indy Heat 17u, but Trent Sisley Trent Sisley 6'8" | PF Heritage Hills | 2025 State #47 Nation IN (Heritage Hills H.S. 2025) was very productive throughout the week. The 6’8″ four-star forward averaged 16.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
- Trey Yoder Trey Yoder 6'6" | PF Woodlan | 2025 State IN (Woodlan H.S. 2025) had a good weekend with Indiana Elite Team Indiana 16u. The 6’5″ left-handed forward was excellent from beyond the arc showing off his pick-and-pop skills including a 30-point game with seven three-pointers on Saturday.
