These players have shown the mentality to be highly dominant players at times and have my full confidence going into the next high school season. Here are five more guys I’m loving this summer.
Brian Webster Brian Webster 6'3" | SG O'Dea | 2026 State WA O’Dea ’26
Not a tough choice here. Webster got a lot of love for his play on the EYBL circuit and for good reason. He showed up on an O’Dea team last season that made it all the way to the 3A championship game. And he played a big role off the bench, showing he was far beyond his years as a player. Now that he has another summer under his belt, he’s starting to show glimpses of being a go-to guy. It’s still probably a bit early given the talent still on O’Dea’s roster, but Webster is a guy that can fill the stat sheet and has some innate feel with the ball in his hands.
Doni Burkett Doni Burkett 6'2" | PG O'Dea | 2026 State WA Federal Way ’26
Burkett is another guy that just looks different than a lot of other players on the floor. He has an aura, a way he moves with the ball that lets you know he’s just different. He was really confident at the June D1 Showcase, playing up against some of the top talent in the Northwest. He scored with high efficiency from the perimeter, often took on the responsibility of running the show offensively, and showed some instinct defensively to make some plays here and there.
Dalton Brown Dalton Brown 6'6" | SF Tahoma | 2024 State WA Tahoma ’24
He’s a long wing player with fantastic activity getting out in transition and around the rim in the halfcourt. He consistently finds ways to get his hands on offensive rebounds and is a guy who’s just as effective with the ball as he is without it. With athleticism, instincts, and size, Brown has the tools to be an effective two-way wing and he’s done a great job playing above the rim with strength this summer.
Bryce Smith Bryce Smith 6'1" | PG Bellevue | 2025 State WA Bellevue ’25
As a two-way point guard, just about the only thing he lacks is a consistent outside shot. He has the fiery heart to compete and can be an impact player on both ends with good quickness and instincts. He came on toward the end of last season at the state tournament and really hasn’t stopped his ascent since. I’m expecting big things out of him this winter as a guy who can set the tone for his team.
Jackson Pepper Jackson Pepper 6'3" | SG Selah | 2025 State WA Selah ’25
This is another kid that just continues to step out on the floor and perform. He showed he can score the ball at a high rate last season and has kept that going, looking like one of the purest shooters in his class. He’s got easy range, a quick motion, and doesn’t just make his shots, but usually hits nothing but net. Add to that, a little sneaky athleticism for the 6-foot-3 guard and you have a kid who could really take off next season.
