Continue ReadingThe 2024 class is starting to wind down their KHSAA basketball careers. AAU is over for most of the rising Seniors and will be over for all of them by the end of the month. Several stars have started to commit and more will be coming soon. Let’s take a look at the top 10 point guards in the class in the latest rankings update. This does not include the top 10 players in the class as they have been highlighted in another article.
Vasser is a top 10 or better talent in the 24 class but he’s been slowed by an ankle injury that cost him almost his entire AAU season. Once he gets back to 100% from his injury, expect Vasser to be in the mix for 7th region player of the year as he leads a Trinity team that can compete for a state title this year.
Probably the best 2024 in the mountains, Jaylan is a certified bucket getter from the point guard spot. The impressive thing about Rigdon is that he can flip the switch and be more of a facilitator for teammates when he’s got more talent around him. I expect him to have a really good college career wherever he signs.
Kyran has worked to become one of the most athletic point guards in the state. Tilley has an edge to him that you see in point guards like Chris Paul in the sense that he’s not looking to make friends once he steps on the court. Evangel is going to be in the mix for a state title this year and Kyran Tilley Kyran Tilley 6’1″ | PG Evangel Christian | 2024 State KY will be one of the driving forces to get them there.
Doyle is a big point guard who committed early to Bellarmine and shut it down for AAU season so we haven’t seen much of him in the last 5 months. Tyler is a capable driver and an above average defender that is switchable and can guard several spots on the floor.
Custard is a dual sport athlete who could end up playing football in college if he doesn’t sign to play point guard for someone. A hard nosed player, Kaydon doesn’t back down from guarding the best player on the opposing team, regardless of position. His ultimate college sport remains to be seen but the 6’2 guard should find his way on to a college roster one way or another.
