I’ll start with teams competing at Issaquah HS, but you can look forward to Bellevue College recaps and check out what I saw in person from the Mt Si HS games here; Mt Si Standouts, New Names & Stock Risers at Mt Si, Noteworthy Names at Mt Si.
2024s
Jacob Cofie Jacob Cofie 6'10" | PF Eastside Catholic | 2024 State #97 Nation WA | Eastside Catholic
Cofie was elite operating with his back to the hoop, using power, quick first steps, and good balance to outwit and outwork post-defenders. Even more impressive, was his awareness and passing out of those situations. He was able to move anticipating defenders with his eyes, and find shooters with crosscourt passes when double teams clamped down, putting the ball right in the shooting pocket.
Henry Sandberg Henry Sandberg 6'3" | CG Gonzaga Prep | 2024 State WA | Gonzaga Prep
Sandberg has some underrated quickness with the ball and his use of the jab followed by a quick burst, helped him get to the rim or get his man running so he could pull up for the jumper. He showed an effective crossover to create space in the mid-range and really held defenders on his hip once he got that edge to drive by.
Noel Davis Noel Davis 5'11" | PG O'Dea | 2024 State WA | O’Dea
His quickness is just different out there. He can reliably create space on the dribble, win hustle plays, apply on-ball pressure, and does it all game long with an exceptional motor. He was playing at a different speed when I saw him over the weekend.
Josh Woodard Josh Woodard 6'0" | PG Richland | 2024 State WA | Richland
Woodard is a quick guard with a big engine, and even though he runs point for Richland, he does a lot of shooting and scoring for the Bombers. He was lighting it up from the field with a quick trigger, finding space with his continuous work off the ball, and mixing in shots from different ranges.
Max Mayo Max Mayo 6'1" | CG Stanwood | 2024 State WA | Stanwood
Mayo was feeling his shot all weekend with pullups, catch-and-shoot opportunities, from 3-point, and working in the mid-range. As the point man for Stanwood, he was able to set up some more drives inside with his excellent shooting and collapse the defense. His passing was on target too and he had a strong weekend for the Spartans.
Adrian Peev Adrian Peev 5'9" | PG Nathan Hale | 2024 State WA | Nathan Hale
Peev is an excellent guard who established the pace, shot at a high rate from beyond the arc, and applied ball fakes on the perimeter to set up defenders and get an extra step ahead on his drives. He’s pretty slippery to the cup and has good vision. He’s one to watch going forward.
Rio Valdez Rio Valdez 5'10" | CG Nathan Hale | 2024 WA | Nathan Hale
Valdez had a really balanced scoring attack, dropping in shots from outside and showing some strong, bursty finishing through traffic at the rim. He’s a quick guard with great straight-line speed that can dart around defenders, stay in control, and is tough to stay in front of.
Nate Krohn Nate Krohn 6'4" | SG Eastside Catholic | 2024 State WA | Eastside Catholic
All I wrote down for Krohn was, “great patience.” A lot of what he does for this particular Eastside Catholic team is predicated on providing stability and flow. He makes smart, well-timed cuts off the ball. He has great vision passing and can take control of the offense to settle things down or make a play when needed. And he has the ability to space the floor too. He’s a jack-of-all-trades who is essential to what the Crusaders want to do.
Malcolm Clark Malcolm Clark 6'7" | SF O'Dea | 2024 State WA | O’Dea
Two things stood out with Clark over the event. One, he is one of the more effective big men at hedging screens and using his length to poke balls free and create turnovers, and also occupy passing lanes while recovering back down low. He had a number of steals coming up on screens. Two, he was vastly improved scoring around the rim through contact. He drew a bunch of fouls and overall was much stronger playing through reaches and grabs.
Dylan Skaife Dylan Skaife 6'4" | SG Ferris | 2024 State WA | Ferris
Skaife looks like he’ll be handling a big load this winter. His skill set is definitely more of an off-guard, but over the event, he was the man bringing the ball down and initiating a lot of the offense. He was counted on to score, draw and dish, use his size inside as one of two players 6-foot-4 and over, and take on the top defensive assignment. He’s going to be a busy man but showed he can grind through games and still perform under more pressure.
2025s
Nick Schanno Nick Schanno 6'5" | SF Seattle Prep | 2025 State WA | Seattle Prep
Schanno is a guy that might get overlooked because of all the talent around him, but he’s a long combo forward who showed some good versatility at the event, putting the ball on the floor to attack defenses inside, and stretching the floor with corner threes. He was able to finish some nice touch shots in the paint over Richland’s big man, Luke Westerfield Luke Westerfield 6'10" | PF Richland | 2024 State WA , showing his front-court versatility.
Nirvaan Misra Nirvaan Misra 6'4" | CG Seattle Prep | 2025 State WA | Seattle Prep
The Prep guard played with good energy and pace, setting the tone with his attacking mindset and ability to make plays getting downhill, and also come off screens on the perimeter and knock down the triples. He was one of their more consistent scorers and showed an ability to speed up defenders and stop on a dime.
Beckham King Beckham King 6'8" | SG Seattle Prep | 2025 State WA | Seattle Prep
King has started showing some more diversity in his attack, and how he’s beginning to round out his game in other areas. He was active on the glass and used his length to eat space defensively, he also continued to shoot at a high level from all over. But the most noticeable change was his ability to operate out of the post. He was effective not just as a scorer, but passing out of the post to find open shooters and cutters.
Breylon Webb Breylon Webb 6'7" | SF O'Dea | 2025 State WA | O’Dea
His length was a huge factor on the defensive end. His ability to tip passes in the half-court and slow down offensive players while defending on the ball helped the rest of the Irish defense take chances and have more time to recover and hit rotations.
