The annual DMV Live at DeMatha, Virginia Live Period Shootout (VISAA) and Alexandria City and the first ever VA Live by the VHSL will take place at Saint James, all within a 30 mile radius of each other.
We will take the next week or so breaking down the many prospects for coaches to take a look at in these events, and there’s a TON of them.
Here’s a look at part one of the Virginia prospects at VHSL Live we expect to make noise at the event.
Jahleel Jackson | 6’2” PG | Hayfield ’24
Jackson had to come off the bench for the two time defending state champs due to a log jam of senior guards, but don’t get it twisted he’s a very talented player who would have started almost anywhere else. He’s a well built and strong guard who is quick off the bounce and can get downhill and play through contact, he scores the ball from all over and is a good shooter off the catch and off the bounce and he is a very good on ball defender as well.
Owen Pottenburgh Owen Pottenburgh 6'8" | C Hayfield Secondary | 2024 State VA | 6’8” C | Hayfield ’24
Pottenburgh is an emerging big man who has improved a lot over the past few years and is having a very good summer with the Nova Cavs. He’s still somewhat of a project but he’s trending in the right direction as he plays with a good motor on both ends of the floor, he has good hands and soft touch to catch tough passes and finish around the rim and he has shown the ability to step out and make shots as well.
Styles Clemmons Styles Clemmons 6'2" | PG Princess Anne | 2026 State VA | 6’1” PG | Princess Anne ’26
Clemmons took the 757 by storm as a freshman as he was named Class 5A Region Player of the Year and already has a long list of college coaches that are recruiting him and will be in attendance to watch him play. He’s an explosive and dynamic guard who has a great handle and the ability to breakdown defenders and create shots for himself and others, he’s great in ball screen action where he can turn the corner and makes good reads and he can fill it up in bunches from multiple levels too.
Damon Thompson Damon Thompson 6'0" | PG John Marshall | 2024 State VA | 6’1” PG | John Marshall ’24
Thompson is one of the most highly sought after guards in VA in the 2024 class, as he holds double digit division one offers and was one of the main reasons for John Marshall’s national success this past season. He’s a smooth scoring guard who can put it on the deck and make shots off the bounce from deep, he creates space well in the midrange and can get to the rim where he’s a crafty finisher and once he gets it going he can make plays for others as well.
Dominique Bailey Dominique Bailey 6'2" | SG John Marshall | 2024 State VA | 6’2” WG | John Marshall ’24
Bailey is the ultimate glue guy who will make some team very happy they took him and a lot of teams very upset when they have to play against if they pass on him. He’s a defensive minded player who takes pride on that end of the floor and will guard the other team’s best player while getting under their skin with his in your face type of play, he can knock down open shots consistently and has improved in his ability to get past defenders and finish around the rim too.
Latrell Allmond Latrell Allmond 6'8" | C John Marshall | 2026 State VA | 6’8” PF | John Marshall ’26
Allmond was named the #1 prospect in the first Prep Hoops VA 2026 rankings, and even though it’s a talented class it wasn’t really a debate as he’s well beyond his years in his production level and game. He’s a very strong and physical forward who can outmuscle players older than him already, he’s explosive as a finisher and is a big time rebounder particularly on the offensive end, he protects the paint and moves well to switch onto guards and he has the ability to step out and knock down shots too.
Jordan Scott Jordan Scott 6'7" | SG South Lakes | 2025 State #130 Nation VA | 6’6” WG | South Lakes ’25
Scott may be the biggest stock riser in all of VA this spring, as he’s picked up double digit division one offers including a slew of high major schools who will likely be in attendance for this live period. The 6’6” two guard is highly skilled as a shot maker with deep range off the catch and he’s a good secondary ball handler, he’s an unselfish playmaker who likes to make others better and he’s a very good defender who moves his feet on the perimeter and is a good rim protector for his position too.
Sol Vita Sol Vita 6'1" | PG South Lakes | 2025 State VA | 6’0” PG | South Lakes ’25
Vita is another player for South Lakes that coaches should be tracking for next year, as he’s one of the top point guards in Nova and is the straw that stirs the drink for them. He handles pressure well and controls the tempo for the team, he hits guys in the pocket and drops passes on a dime to hit cutters and he can score the ball in isolation situations too.
