Cougars Came to Play:
The North Charleston HS Cougars came to play today in a victory over Sumter HS. Senior guards Onarae Grant Onarae Grant 5'10" | PG North Charleston | 2024 State SC and Ethen Cobin-Willis Ethen Cobin-Willis 6'1" | SG North Charleston | 2024 State SC provided the spark. Grant an undersized off guard was able to connect on some perimeter jumpers while Cobin-Willis is a catch-shoot guy from behind the arc.
Marco Simpson Marco Simpson 6'1" | CG North Charleston | 2026 State SC was ALL OVER THE FLOOR today with his play. Simpson brings unreal energy at all times. Marco is a very slender-sleek athlete who flourishes in the chaos and transition style game. He must work on his handles for down the road. Simpson connected on all 3 levels today with his scoring.
Michael Jordan Michael Jordan 6'4" | PF North Charleston | 2025 State SC is an undersized post who really understands where his bread is buttered down low on the floor. Jordan plays bigger than his size down low and really brings blue collar mentality to the floor.
This North Charleston HS Cougars team likes to play DEFENSE and really gets after it at all times – with ball pressure. Watch out for this squad and Head Coach Tony Eady.
Gators Look to Rebuild:
The Goose Creek HS Gators lost 9 kids to graduation and a State Championship Runner-up last in Class 5A. Shane Potts Shane Potts 6'1" | CG Goose Creek | 2025 State SC and Ja’Quell Brown Ja’Quell Brown 5'11" | CG Goose Creek | 2026 State SC will look to provide leadership in the backcourt this season for Head Coach Blake Hall.
This duo brings plenty of experience to the table and a few victories over the years. Junior Alex Ravenel Alex Ravenel 6'6" | SF Goose Creek | 2025 State SC will be a new piece for the Gators to the roster this season. Ravenel is a wiry and bouncy forward who had a solid showing here today at the Coastal Carolina University Team Camp.
Moore Picks Up Offer:
Robert Moore Robert Moore 6'7" | SG Arizona Compass | 2025 #232 Nation AZ , who is just a junior, picked up a offer from the host Coastal Carolina University Chants here today. Moore who attends Porter Gaud runs with Upward Stars SE 3SSB 3SSB 2025 on the Grassroots Circuit.
Mauldin Still Playing Well:
Clyde Mauldin Clyde Mauldin 6'5" | SF Porter Gaud | 2024 State SC won’t overwhelm you whenever you watch him play for Porter Gaud. Clyde a left-handed forward continues to play well this spring and summer. He has made some good noise on the New Balance Circuit with the Charleston Raptors and with the Cyclones here this June. Clyde has nice stroke from the perimeter, and he really understands good shot selection at all times.
Landsharks Look to Rebuild:
Oceanside Collegiate Academy looks to rebuild again this season after losing in the Class 2A State Championship last season to sister school Gray Collegiate Academy. The Lansharks were playing without the services of Jake Thomas Jake Thomas 6'6" | PF Oceanside Collegiate | 2026 State SC today. Thomas a post player is just going to be a sophomore but will provide some much-needed work down in the paint.
Travis Stickney Travis Stickney 6'1" | PG Oceanside Collegiate | 2024 State SC and Carson Jones Carson Jones 6'4" | SG Oceanside Collegiate Academy | 2025 State SC both provided good pop from the backcourt. Stickney has a knack to finish tough drives to the basket and especially finish with his left-hand. Travis is a GAMER who makes winning plays.
Jones is a marksman out on the wing for the Landsharks. Carson can really knockdown shots especially from three-point range. Jones sets his feet and shows to have a picturesque looking stroke.
Bruins Still Not at Full Strength:
Amare Adams Amare Adams 6'5" | PF South Florence | 2025 State SC and Karon Brown Karon Brown 6'6" | PF West Florence | 2025 State SC have not suited up yet for the South Florence HS Bruins with Prep Hoops in attendance. The Lake City HS duo from year ago have found their way over to the south side of Florence. Adams a Power 5 Football Recruit and Brown will both be just juniors.
Jamarie Brown Jamarie Brown 6'3" | PG South Florence | 2024 State SC , left-handed SyRee Livingston SyRee Livingston 6'2" | SF South Florence | 2024 State SC and Jarius Davis Jarius Davis 6'4" | SF South Florence | 2025 State SC packed some punch for the Bruins here today. Brown is scoring guard who really can get up with his shot at times. Jamarie is the leader of this team on and off the court.
Livingston recently made the move over from Mullins HS. This dual athlete who also excels on the football field should provide plenty of production this season.
Davis just a junior brings good versatility when it comes to play multiple positions on the floor. Davis can score the ball from all 3 levels on the floor. He does a nice job of playing active in the passing lanes.
This Bruins squad will be a tough out in Class 4A this coming season.
Youngsters in the Building:
BJ Brown BJ Brown 6'3" | SG Sumter | 2026 State SC a left-handed guard attends Sumter HS. BJ is a bulls-eye shooter at times with shooting mechanics for the Gamecocks. He understands on how to make himself available on the floor for a open look. BJ never seems to get rattled and force his shots while in the game.
Chris Stewart Chris Stewart 6'4" | PF Andrews | 2026 State SC plays the game like a Junk Yard Dog around the paint for the Andrews HS Yellow Jackets. Stewart is effective inside the paint area on just activity alone. Chris has nimble footwork to move around the floor. He plays very active on the glass while hitting a turnaround jumper from time to time.
Out of State Standouts:
Jordan Gonzalez Jordan Gonzalez 5'10" | CG Ferguson | 2024 FL certainly won’t past the eye test with many college coaches. Gonzalez was superb here today with his play for the Ferguson HS (Miami, FL) Falcons. Ferguson has an enrollment of 4,400 students and is the 2nd largest school in the Sunshine State.
Gonzalez is a PLAYER that really knows how to control the game. He can shoot the rock, uncanny court vision, will push the tempo when needed and just finds ways to score the ball. Oh yeah, he led the state of Florida in scoring at 27.3 ppg last season while averaging 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 steals. He plays with a local Grassroots team called the Thunder.
Some college program is going to look very smart down the road with his young man in its backcourt.
Jordan Mabe Jordan Mabe 6'8" | PF South Laurel | 2025 State KY made his way down to Conway from South Laurel HS in London, KY. Mabe a left-handed point forward has great guard skills and handles from out top. Jordan really does a nice job of seeing the floor and leaving off some crisp passes to his teammates. He can get down-hill with the rock in his hand quite easily. Mabe is part of the 2025 Class in Kentucky.
These two men really could use some recruitment moving forward.
