A second Class of 2024 prospect has committed to a Division One program, a highly touted 2025 prospect continues to stack big time offers and more!
Top 2024 shooter Commits
Earlier this week, Union’s Cedric Dixon Cedric Dixon 6'3" | SG Grind Prep | 2024 State #323 Nation OK took a visit to the University of Nebraska Omaha. After playing some pick-up, enjoying the campus, Dixon decided that it would be the right fit for him. The 918 sharpshooter is headed north to become a Maverick. Dixon’s recruitment is an example of how excelling at one aspect, in this case three-point shooting, can lead to more opportunities then trying to do too much. With an improving motor on the defensive end, the Union Redhawk can now focus on developing for the next level, instead of stressing over recruitment.
A lesson for other Oklahoma prospects, relationships matter. Omaha’s coaching staff has a heavy Oklahoma influence. Head Coach Chris Crutchfield was a long time assistant at Oral Roberts and Oklahoma. And even spent a year as the head coach at East Central in Ada. Assistants Kyan Brown and Warren Niles both also played at ORU, Brown also coached there.
For Oklahoma prospects to successfully be recruited to out of state programs, it usually comes down to having coaches familiar with the undervalued prospects Oklahoma produces. Crutchfield, now in his second year at Omaha is doing just that, as Dixon joins JJ White (2021 Norman North), Marquel Sutton (2021 Tulsa Rogers) and Sebastian Perry Sebastian Perry 6'1" | PG Heritage Hall | 2023 State OK (2023 Heritage Hall) as Oklahoma products on the Mavericks’ roster.
Young continues to rise
The state’s top 2025 prospect Carlsheon Young Carlsheon Young 6'5" | CG Midwest City | 2025 State #83 Nation OK has battled on the 3 Stripes Circuit at the 17U level with Team Trae Young. Playing nationwide the last two weekends has paid off with more new offers. This time from two new coaching staffs in Chris Beard at Ole Miss and Mark Madsen at Cal. It should be no surprise that Young is excelling against national competition, his combination of size and skill off the bounce makes him a premier downhill finisher. While his the instincts and feel on the defensive end makes him an outstanding defender as well.
Warlick’s offer list grows
Finally over the last month, the college interest in the Edmond North Husky is starting to match his on the court production. Last week, Cal Poly and George Mason joined South Alabama as offers for Dylan Warlick Dylan Warlick 6'6" | SF Edmond North | 2024 State #226 Nation OK . Now this week, Jacksonville State and Long Island Basketball have entered the picture. If you click on Warlick’s player profile and read any of the articles detailing the now two team Class 6A state champion, the continual increase interest should be of no surprise. The bruising 6 foot 6 prospect’s production is inevitable, and with basketball going smaller there is now more ways for Warlick to produce at the next level. Just like the inevitable production, the offers will inevitably increase this summer as well.
Dakotah Terrell Dakotah Terrell 6'8" | C Pocola | 2025 State #335 Nation OK ‘s First Offers
Just over a year ago, Dakotah Terrell Dakotah Terrell 6'8" | C Pocola | 2025 State #335 Nation OK was a surprising but very good find at Oral Roberts’ Team Camp. The upside was obvious with the initial viewing. Anytime a player moves like he does at over 6 foot 6, there’s a chance for D1 upside. It meant keeping close tabs on the Eastern Oklahoma product anytime he played in one of the state’s metro areas.
Now at 6 foot 8, the high upside forward prospect is starting to turn heads at the college ranks while playing for Team Trae Young’s 16U squad. Earlier this week, the University of Tulsa became the first program to offer. While during the writing of this article, Cal-Poly also extended an offer. It appears Terrell is starting to develop at a rapid rate and will be fun to keep tabs on the rest of this spring and summer.
Jalen Montonati Jalen Montonati 6'7" | SF Owasso | 2026 State OK adds another shade of Orange to list
It should be no surprise that the state’s top overall prospect has a new offer. This time from Rick Barnes at Tennessee, a slightly different shade of orange than the Oklahoma State offer that broke the seal for Montonati last fall. What should be a surprise is that it’s the only new offer after the lanky 6 foot 7 wing torched Nike’s 15U Division. He led MoKan in scoring with 18.3 points a game, with a blistering 54.8% shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Most importantly, his squad went 4-0 and already clinched a spot at Nike’s prestigious Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina.
As always, it’s early days for the talented sophomore to be, but the production, national rankings and offers point to Montonati reaching rarified air for an Oklahoma product.
