After two losses Saturday night, Wisconsin Crusaders were back in action Sunday morning against a difficult Wisconsin Playmakers squad. My first big standout is Drew Daoust Drew Daoust 6'2" | PG Southern Door | 2025 State WI . The 6’2” point guard from Door County is one of the most proficient 3-level scorers I’ve seen so far. His ability to score over taller defenders and hit a midrange fadeaway are new aspects to his game that I haven’t seen before. But in addition to his scoring, he’s become a much better passer. He had numerous transition assists in the morning game against Wisconsin Playmakers while also breaking out of double teams to find open teammates. Walked into a bank-shot three in the final seconds of the opening half to reach double figures too.
In the second half, Oskar Kangas Oskar Kangas 6'6" | PF Iron Mountain | 2025 WI came alive with a strong scoring burst. The 6’6” forward found buckets both on the inside and on the perimeter, while also making his presence felt defensively. This was the first time I saw someone other tan Daoust of Van Kauwenberg take over a game for them. But a cold spell would result in a playmakers comeback, which sent the game into OT. In the extra time, Keegan Van Kauwenberg Keegan Van Kauwenberg 6'3" | CG Kaukauna | 2025 State WI hit a huge shot in the corner to give them a 74-71 lead. On the other end, Oskar Kangas Oskar Kangas 6'6" | PF Iron Mountain | 2025 WI stripped the ball away to seal an exciting win. Later today, two clutch free throws by Logan Steffensmeier Logan Steffensmeier 6'7" | SF Sheboygan North | 2025 WI sealed an exciting win over previously unbeaten FVV elite. Steffensmeier broke out with 18 points that contest.
Zach Orr Continues His Impressive Scoring Burst
Wisconsin playmakers Guard Zach Orr has quickly established himself into one of the best 16U scorers this weekend. After a sensational 27-point performance Saturday against GPA, he scored a quick 14 points in the first half against Wisconsin Crusaders. The highlight of the morning was undoubtedly his full-court heave at the first half buzzer. When down double digits, Orr helped lead a comeback with a pair of contested three’s. Some free throws and a baseline floater would eventually send the game into OT after being down 16. He finished with 30 points in a 74-71 heartbreaking loss to Wisconsin Crusaders.
All-In Comes Back vs Playmakers
Achilles Anderson started the game off strong with three inside buckets and seven points. He utilized quite a few techniques to score including the pick-and-roll and a smooth spin move for a layup. He also took a charge defensively in the early going and blocked a shot out of bounds at the end of the first half. It was around that time where Anderson became more active in the passing game, often finding teammates open for three and cutting down the lane.
All-In struggled in the first half to keep up with Wisconsin Playmakers, but they turned it around and made it a contest in the second half. Matthew Morrice hit a pair of threes in the corner while also playing strong on the defensive end. A three-pointer by Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'1" | PG Addison Trail | 2025 State IL leveled the game at 43 and then they won it in OT 48-44.
Big First Half for Anton Strenlnikov Anton Strenlnikov 6'6" | C Lake Zurich | 2025 State IL Not Enough for Rose
It was the Anton Strenlnikov Anton Strenlnikov 6'6" | C Lake Zurich | 2025 State IL show from the very beginning. His interior play was very difficult to challenge offensively with eight fast points. Later in the half, he converted an and-one and extended his range for a deep three pointer. Strelnikov was up to 18 points by halftime. Defensively, he was very active on the boards and forced highly difficult shots. But the high-volume play from Greater Purpose was too much, and they downed team rose 64-57. Ben Schneider Ben Schneider 5'11" | PG Prospect | 2025 IL led the way with 21 points
