This week Drew Daoust just reached the top 5 all time in Wisconsin for career scoring in basketball. He is a Southern Door Senior. God willing he should be able to move to 2nd within the next few weeks. This week he scored 37, 35 and 33 points in the 3 games they had.

An elite scorer who has a keen sense of knowing when to put his game into an extra great, Daoust returns for his senior season having scored a whopping 2,225 points over the past three season. The 6-foot-1 combination guard can most definitely fill it up from outside the three-point arc, but he’s also outstanding at getting into the lane for short jumpers. Daoust also can get to the basket and use his physical strength to score through contact. A three-time first-team all-league player in the Packerland and two-time Player of the Year, Daoust averaged 32.8 points and 5.5 rebounds as a junior while leading Southern Door to a 22-5 record and the league title. Further success is anticipated in 2024-25 as Daoust is one of three starters back for coach Josh VandenBush.

Daoust is a bucket getter. Whether he’s drilling three-point shots, scoring off of pull-up jumpers in the lane, or getting all the way to the basket and finishing over taller defenders, he is an offensive machine. Daoust piles up points in a hurry as he is especially effective in transition due to his ball handling, shiftiness and strength to ward off defenders. He averaged 32.8 points and 5.5 rebounds as a junior, but he also handed out 4.4 assists and came up with 3.3 steals per outing. Daoust averaged 25 shots per game as a junior and helped Southern Door to a 22-5 record under coach Josh VandenBush. Daoust currently holds scholarship offers from Dakota State, Lincoln and Newman.

Daoust currently sits at No. 27 on the state’s all-time scoring list, and he definitely has a very good shot at moving into exceptionally elite company with a solid senior season. The 6-foot-1 combination guard, who owns scholarship offers from NCAA Division II University of Lincoln and Newman University along with NAIA Dakota State, begins his senior season with a whopping 2,225 points. He averaged 32.8 points per game as a junior and 32.1 ppg as a sophomore. Daoust definitely gets up his shots — he averaged 25 attempts per game a year ago — but he’s also pretty efficient as he shot 48 percent from the field, 79 percent from the foul line and 32 percent from three-point range. Southern Door’s sharpshooter scored 885 points as a junior. If he’s able to duplicate that production in 2024-25, Daoust would finish his career with 3,110 points and move past Mickey Crowe of JFK Prep and into second place on the state’s all-time scoring list. Daoust would need to score 1,167 points in 2024-25 to eclipse Anthony Pieper of Wausaukee all-time record of 3,391 points set from 1989-93.

. Against St. Augustine Prep he was doing it all, knocking down deep threes, getting to the rim for tough finishes, and setting up his teammates for high percentage looks. Drew never looks rushed no matter what you throw at him, and he just effortlessly glides by defenders to find pockets of space to score. I was really impressed with how he was setting up his teammates, showing great vision from the perimeter to zip in passes to cutters. Really like how he kept his eyes scanning the floor, connecting on some deep outlet passes to his teammates running the floor.
