As opposed to a traditional rankings list, this list will highlight players deserving of more attention, whether collegiately or locally, than they are currently receiving. All player stats were located via Maxpreps.

[player_tooltip player_id='1742881' first='Sean' last='Birmingham'], 6-8 Southpaw Sniper with High Major Interest

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1742881' first='Sean' last='Birmingham'] - Ever since coming to North Carolina, Birmingham has built a quiet reputation as one of the state's more impressive college prospects. The 6-8 southpaw wing caught eyes at the 2023 John Wall Invitational at Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC. Following his very first season in the state, I believe it is more than safe to classify Birmingham as one of the premier shooting threats in North Carolina. Birmingham's length, preparedness off the catch, refined shot mechanics, and remarkable feel for the game make up an elite offensive talent at high school level. Birmingham was an All-Tournament selection at the Nordics playing for Iceland, before competing at the FIBA U18 B. All-CISAA Selection with Cannon High School in a 28-7 season where the Cougars finished 1st in conference. So far in 2023, Birmingham has received offers including Wake Forest, Charlotte, and Davidson.

[player_tooltip player_id='1076352' first='Maurio' last='Hanson'] Looking to Cap off Decorated High School Career

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1076352' first='Maurio' last='Hanson'] - [player_tooltip player_id='1076352' first='Maurio' last='Hanson']'s name is amongst superior-tier of forwards in the state of North Carolina. Hanson's makeup as an agile, productive vertical threat with a reliable array of low-post moves has provided Julius L. Chambers with one of the more valuable assets a team can have at the high school level. Hanson prepares to enter the senior year of an accomplished high school career, awarded All-Conference in 3 consecutive seasons. The Cougars finished 23-7, with an Elite 8 playoff appearance in a contest that was one of the most exciting high school basketball games ever in Charlotte. So far in 2023, Hanson has received an offer from Hampton.

[player_tooltip player_id='1281454' first='Quay' last='Watson'] Commanded His Attention in 2022-2023

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1281454' first='Quay' last='Watson'] - At the end of the 2022-2023 season the Queen City Athletic 3A/4A crowned its Player of the Year, [player_tooltip player_id='1281454' first='Quay' last='Watson']. Watson's selection was an ever-memorable accomplishment to acknowledge the electric season put on by the Titan's floor general. The conference boasted elite talent, both locally and nationally, attracting massive attention over the course of the 2022-2023 season. In Hopewell's first 3 games of the season, Watson contributed 35 points 6 assists, 32 points and 4 assists, and a 25/6/5 line with 4 steals, all against quality non-conference opponents. In addition to the POY award, Watson was a 1st team All-District selectee amongst 4 other players who will all go on to play college basketball at the Division One level. Watson received his first offer from the University of Mount Olive in January of 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='1680976' first='Jordan' last='Patton']'s Motor, Skill, and Patience

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1680976' first='Jordan' last='Patton'] - On a list of productivity, [player_tooltip player_id='1680976' first='Jordan' last='Patton']'s high school career has been both productive, and patient. Aside from consecutive travel ball periods leading Elite One (Charlotte) in both scoring and rebounds, Patton's time at Julius L. Chambers has helped contribute to consistent winning as well. Freshman year, Patton played junior varsity in a conference that had an abundance of talent playing on JV. His sophomore season saw him working into a rotational role on varsity. Eventually, Patton evolved into a starting role in his junior season. The Cougars finished 23-7, with an Elite 8 playoff appearance in a contest that was one of the most exciting high school basketball games ever in Charlotte. Patton recorded 12.6 PPG on a team high 60% FG%. 7.2 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.0 BPG in route to an All-Conference selection.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591916' first='Tyler' last='Showalter'], on the Verge of a Leap

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1591916' first='Tyler' last='Showalter'] - Last year, Showalter contributed 10.0 PPG on 40% FG, 5.0 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.4 SPG, and 1.0 BPG. In addition to contributing in evert category, Showalter led the team with 67% from the line. Showalter stands out on one of the best independent 17U programs in the country, BSA Supreme. Showalter's motor, ability to hit mid range shots over shorter defenders, and handle gives him positional versatility at 6-6. Can play as an off-ball guard, slot along the wing or as a small ball 4, with the ability to defend within the same range. Butler finished with a 17-9 record this past season, and earned a playoff berth.

[player_tooltip player_id='1076335' first='Trey' last='Maxwell'] is Familiar with Big Time Shots

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1076335' first='Trey' last='Maxwell'] -[player_tooltip player_id='1076335' first='Trey' last='Maxwell'] has willed himself into conversations amongst the top 2024 players in the Charlotte-area. Trey is an unsurprisingly tough, competitive perimeter threat. Maxwell is fearless, regardless of his opponent. Coached by Coach Duane Lewis who has seen a long line of talent reach college athletics. North Mecklenburg program has remained one of the premier programs, public or private, that the state has boasted for years. Son of NBA Champion Vernon Maxwell, and brother of 2020 North Carolina Mr. Basketball Tristan Maxwell. Plays travel ball for B Maze Elite on the Under Armour Association circuit. North Mecklenburg finished with a 29-3 record, and a state Final 4 appearance. Maxwell averaged 17 PPG with an All-Conference, and 2nd Team All-District selection.

[player_tooltip player_id='1076364' first='Peter' last='Moye'] has Redefined his Role on the Floor

2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1076364' first='Peter' last='Moye'] - [player_tooltip player_id='1076364' first='Peter' last='Moye'] initially garnered attention as a standout-worthy scorer. Moye presents as a player that produces a bit of everything, and that claim would be more than defensible. Moye led South Meck in points (20.2), FG% (46%), assists (3.0), steals (1.3), and FT% (82%), with 4.7 RPG. Competing with BSA Supreme this summer, amongst the absolute best independent programs in the country. Had a trio of 30+ point performances as a sophomore, including a 38 point clinic against Harding in January. Moye is a two-time All Conference selectee.

Ryan Lewis, Prepped for Leadership

2024 Ryan Lewis - After two years at Ardrey Kell, Ryan Lewis entered his junior season at Charlotte Catholic. The 6-2 combo guard recorded 14.5 PPG, 2.1 APG, and 4.8 RPG while shooting 48% from 3 on 108 attempts. He will be assuming an even greater leadership role following the departure of 2023 F [player_tooltip player_id='1128905' first='Patrick' last='Tivnan']. The Cougars finished 1st in conference with a 24-6 record, as well as an Elite 8 playoff appearance. Lewis was an All-Conference selectee.
