Maxwell is an under-the-radar name for North Mecklenburg High’s backcourt who’s due for a breakout season heading into his senior year. He’s got the ability to knock down shots from deep and act as a secondary ball-handler for a group that looks to make another run in this year’s state playoffs with Duke commit

Maxwell plays a lot like his brother, Tristan, used to when he was at North Meck. Both shoot the cover off the ball, but Trey has more of a interior and mid-range scoring acument to his game. Good off the catch shooter, but when he dribbles he’s wanting to get to the hoop. Really thrives as a complementary scorer that can get open looks and not have to create his own all the time. He’s the kind of bigger guard that will thrive at the next level, whether it be D1 or D2. Look for him to continue producing this upcoming year.

North Mecklenburg saw themselves in an unfamiliar spot at the start of post-season play, as the #3 seed in the West region of the NCHSAA-4A state playoffs. This unprecedented seeding was courtesy of the Viking’s 25-2 overall record heading into late February. A year prior, they were the #10 seed and rode that underdog wave to the state semifinals. 2022 was not a fluke. The Vikings found their way back to the final four, this time in a match-up against Meyers Park. A pound-for-pound match in the first half was all North Mecklenburg had, and Meyers Park ran away with the game in a blow-out second-half win. They would go on to win the title. North Mecklenburg has been to two semifinals in two years. Once as a 10, the other as a 3. They know how to get there. The question for the Vikings in 2023-2024 is whether they can execute down the stretch. Class of 2024 guard

is a premier point guard whose game has the necessities to attract big-time coaches and programs. Maxwell is a tough, scrappy guard who is first and foremost a competitor. He is one of the most versatile wing threats in the class of 2024. His length, size, and ability to shoot the basketball make him a threat from anywhere along the perimeter. He’s crafty off the dribble, can create off screens, and has an elite offensive mind. His size enhances his ability to rebound and push the pace. Maxwell plays with poise and is a leader on and off the floor. Expect

is a prospect due to soar up the ranks as his role should grow in the North Mecklenburg High backcourt in 2023-24. He’s an electric perimeter threat already that can get hot in a hurry and show off his ability to knock down shots on the perimeter. He’s the son of former Houston Rockets legend Vernon Maxwell and has some of his pedigree as a slasher and scorer with the ball in his hands. He’ll be a name to keep an eye on with B-Maze Elite on the UAA Circuit this season.

played a huge part in North Mecklenburg’s 54-50 win over Milton and hit some big shots when they needed him to. Maxwell had a big 3rd quarter that helped swing momentum in North Meck’s favor. That’s when he began heating up from three and never really cooled down. He scored 20 points in the second half alone, 22 for the game, and hit 4 clutch free throws in crunch time to help secure the win. While Isaiah Evans had a somewhat quiet night,
