Here’s a look at the top performers we caught in the Class of 2025 – most of whom were from the 17U D1 champions – Players Only 16U.
Jason Grady Jason Grady 6'5" | SF Westview | 2025 State OR , Players Only 16U (2025 Westview) – Any conversation about the best perimeter shooters in the Class of 2025 in the state has to include Grady, whose jumper was totally wet at the West Coast Spring Showcase. In the semis against Idaho Premier (UA Rise) he hit 6-for-8 from deep and then in the finals against Dynasty he hit another 5-for-8. One thing we’ve noticed about Grady is that he’s very capable of hitting threes while contested.
Patrick Kilfoil Patrick Kilfoil 6'0" | PG Jesuit | 2025 State OR , Players Only 16U (2025 Jesuit) – Knockdown! That was the word we heard from the sideline during the 17U finals as the rising junior from Jesuit was draining lefty jumper after lefty jumper during Players Only’s big second half comeback. Kilfoil plays hard, with an edge, and with a winning mentality that’s contagious with his teammates.
James Kefgen James Kefgen 6'2" | SG Liberty | 2025 State OR , Players Only 16U (2025 Liberty) – Known for his pinpoint perimeter shooting – there are few better at the catch-and-shoot in Oregon – Kefgen didn’t just drain threes this past weekend. When the outside shot wasn’t particularly clicking, the rising junior took the ball hard to the hole and showcased an advanced layup package with some finishes coming high off the backboard. He finished with a team-high 17 points in the final game.
Nolan Keeney Nolan Keeney 6'4" | PF Tualatin | 2025 State OR , Players Only 16U (2025 Tualatin) – Keeney is a tough matchup for opposing defenders as he’s strong enough to muscle them down low but skilled enough to get things done operating from the perimeter. The 6-foot-4 future Timberwolf got some big-time buckets in a pool play victory over DENY that we watched, using footwork and a soft touch around the hoop to get his scores.
Kai Russell Kai Russell 5'10" | PG Westview | 2025 State OR , Players Only 16U (2025 Westview) – Another guy for Players Only that caught our eye was Russell, who more than capably managed the point whenever he was on the floor. The rising junior showed a calm presence running the offense, made not only smart but the right play, and made the open shot when it became available. He was also excellent in transition either finishing the layup or getting it to an open teammate.
Owen Bentea Owen Bentea 6'0" | CG Roseburg | 2025 State OR , GRIT (2025 Roseburg) – We only got a brief glimpse of Bentea in this tournament, but when we saw him he was doing what we expected him to do – playing at full speed and going all out. He’s clearly one of those types of players you know will give full effort every night and leave it all out on the floor.
