Saturday's in the gym this time of year can make for very long days. The weather is nice, friends have turned to outdoor activities, and the notion of being in a basketball gym for 12+ hours doesn't always seem like the most exciting idea. However, this is what separates Prep Ho[program_tooltip program_id='2228160' first='OPS' last=''] from the rest. Our staff LOVES this stuff and has no issue spending beautiful spring Saturday's covering the teams and prospects that choose to come to our events. Now that Saturday at the Havoc in the Heartland is behind us, let's empty out the notebook and take a look at what we saw.

Shoutout to the 8:00 a.m. Crew

It is tradition to start every Saturday and Sunday notebook with a look at who stood out in the "8:00 a.m. crew" round of games. I started my day at Fishers Junior High School to cover a pair of games featuring teams from the Hoosier state. First, I took a look at INB 2024 Elite versus Kentucky Future Elite 2024. In this one is was [player_tooltip player_id='1362965' first='Indred' last='Whitaker'] (Somerset H.S. 2024) who made his presence felt right away. The 6'1" guard splashed a pair of three-pointers right away and went on to score a game-high 17 points as his team won 59-32. His high school running mate [player_tooltip player_id='1849672' first='Ben' last='Godby'] (Somerset H.S. 2024) added 13 points of his own for Kentucky Future Elite.

In the other 8:00 a.m. game, the Great Lakes Warriorz 2024 held off [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 2024 for a 51-45 victory. 6'4" wing [player_tooltip player_id='1587593' first='Bradley' last='Eziuka'] (Canton H.S. 2024) led the way with 21 points while 6'4" wing Mark Stein added 16 points. Those two created a lethal one-two punch for the Warriorz. [player_tooltip player_id='1172872' first='Jordan' last='Lomax'] (Avon H.S. 2024) and [player_tooltip player_id='1277566' first='Nick' last='Glover'] (Warren Central H.S. 2024) each scored 13 points to pace [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''], but it was [player_tooltip player_id='1578461' first='Ryder' last='Cate'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2078452' first='[program_tooltip program_id='2076932' first='Richmond' last='']' last=''] H.S. 2024) who stood out in the early morning session with two straight big defensive plays that led to layups while his team tried to claw their way back.

Brad Beal Elite 2026 EYBL Lives Up to the Hype

Wow. Just walking onto the court this Brad Beal Elite 2026 EYBL team impresses with some of the most physically imposing freshman you will find in the country. 6'6" wing JaShawn Andrews (Little Rock Christian Academy 2026) scored 17 points to lead all scorers while 6'7" forward [player_tooltip player_id='2195049' first='Jaylen' last='Mitchell'] (Evansville Reitz H.S. 2027) finished with 10. Mitchell is widely considered to be the best incoming freshman in the state of Indiana and potentially one of the top prospects nationally in the Class of 2027. His skill level at his size while not even being in high school yet is truly special. You will likely see their players littered across the Havoc in the Heartland 15u All-Tournament Teams at the beginning of the week.

Brad Beal Elite 2025 EYBL Comes From Behind to Defeat [program_tooltip program_id='2076935' first='Team' last='Teague'] 2025 Felder

In what was widely billed as the game of the weekend at the Havoc in the Heartland, these two loaded Class of 2025 teams did not disappoint. Out of the gate, it looked like [program_tooltip program_id='2076935' first='Team' last='Teague'] was going to take it to their EYBL counterpart. [player_tooltip player_id='1296998' first='Cedric' last='Horton'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2078452' first='[program_tooltip program_id='2076932' first='Richmond' last='']' last=''] H.S. 2025) had it cooking early on scoring a quick nine points as [program_tooltip program_id='2076935' first='Team' last='Teague'] jumped out to a 30-17 lead at one point early in the second half. However, the constant pressure that the athletes for Brad Beal Elite provided eventual shifted the balance of power in the game.

Led by [player_tooltip player_id='1228478' first='Elijah' last='Clinton'] (Louisville Western H.S. 2025) and [player_tooltip player_id='1252216' first='EJ' last='Walker'] (Lloyd Memorial H.S. 2025), Brad Beal went on a 19-3 run at one point to take the lead at 36-33 with just over eight minutes to go in the game. That would be as close as the score would be for the rest of the game. Brad Beal Elite would go on to win 56-45. [player_tooltip player_id='1296998' first='Cedric' last='Horton'] finished with 14 points to lead [program_tooltip program_id='2076935' first='Team' last='Teague'] in the loss.

Despite the loss, [player_tooltip player_id='1578416' first='Jesiah' last='Sloss'] (Evansville Harrison H.S. 2025) stood out in [program_tooltip program_id='2076935' first='Team' last='Teague'] 2025 Felder's loss to Brad Beal Elite 2025 EYBL. While going against some very high-level athletes with more strength and athleticism, the 6'5" Sloss more than held his own. His versatility was on full display finishing with 8 points while rebounding the ball very well against the opposing size.

[program_tooltip program_id='2228160' first='OPS' last=''] 2026 Kindschy picked up an impressive win against a talented Team F.E.E.D. Sports Inc. 2026 squad. 6'6" forward [player_tooltip player_id='1981703' first='Stephen' last='Akase'] (Tippecanoe Valley H.S. 2026) scored 16 points to lead [program_tooltip program_id='2228160' first='OPS' last=''] to the 60-56 victory. His rebounding ability, as well as how he defends around the rim, is really high-level for his age. Akase impressed with a couple of coast-to-coast finishes as well. [player_tooltip player_id='2272213' first='DJ' last='Summers'] (Lawrence Central H.S. 2026) led all scorers with 18 points for Team F.E.E.D. in the loss.
