Buckeye Classic: Shane’s Top 17U Players

The kid is sneakily athletic. He has very quick and bouncy movements. He is a lefty with a nice smooth jumper. Makes it at a high clip. A very confident kid that competes. Playing against one of the better teams in the tournament on Sunday during bracket play, he had his best game. He was scoring at all three levels and rose to the occasion. He was giving the other team all they could handle. He has really good hands and anticipation defensively. He has a really good build and size for his position. His athleticism compliments his game very nicely. He was all over the court at both ends. Very active on the glass. My favorite part about his game was his off-ball movement. He made very good aggressive cuts that got him or his teammates open. These cuts gave him multiple easy points all weekend. He is a really good around-the-rim finisher. He also had great energy in all the games I watched him play. He is just a very nice modern big forward. He is listed at 6'6 and is a thick strong kid. He also moves really well though. This allows him to do damage from inside and out. He can guard a lot of positions but does best against bigs and using his strength abasing them. The kid was playing his tail off and doing whatever it took to help his team win. He is only listed at 6'3 but plays so much bigger. He is a strong kid that moves people around. Athletic enough to guard and switch onto guards but strong enough to bang in the post for positioning and rebounds. He can truly guard all five positions. He was a monster on the boards. Really impacted the game with his activity on the boards. He doesn't make any real mistakes that will hurt your team. He is very consistent as well, you just know what you are going to get out of him. That is a high-effort player that gets the ball moving and knocks down shots very efficiently. He has a very quick, smooth shoot with unlimited range. He is 6'5 with a great long wingspan that he uses very well defensively and to get boards. He altered a ton of shots download and seemed to get his hand on every rebound he was near. He has a very high motor and competes his tail off. He was getting a lot of second chances and put back points offensively and hit a couple of shots. He is a two-level scorer that will knock down threes or get all the way to the rim. He picks and chooses very well when to attack the rim or make you pay from beyond the arc. A sneaky athletic kid that can really jump high which creates a lot more of an opportunity to put the ball in the basket against bigger guys. He showed very impressive finishing ability and body control.
