Continue ReadingAt the end of the HS season we had 201 players to rank for the 2024 class and we are now up to 216.
16 players are new, two re-classified to 2024 from 2023, one went to 2025 and one currently stopped playing basketball.
Of the 16 new players, five fell in the top-35 and eight in the Top-100.
This obviously means some of the players who were ranked at the top last year saw their ranking drop.
This class is the rising seniors and it is very pivotal for them to get seen and show out with college coaches watching them. We hope they all do well in June and July.
Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, Arizona Top-250 EXPO and during the AIA/CAA/Grind Session seasons.
1. 26 players have earned a D1 offer so far showing how talented and deep this rising senior class is. One of the highest we have had in the state in a while including Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'6" | SF Norland (FL) | 2024 State #56 Nation FL who is one of the top two-way players in the West.
2. Two of the players committed with Jamari Phillips Jamari Phillips 6'3" | SG Dream City Christian | 2024 State #20 Nation AZ to Arizona and Jason Asemota Jason Asemota 6'8" | PF Hillcrest Prep | 2024 State #43 Nation AZ to Baylor.
3. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session, OTE and the AIA obviously has different levels. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on local independent circuits (Pangos, Prep Hoops, WCE, NB16, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.
4. Of the 216 players we have 47 PG’s, 38 SG’s, 30 CG’s, 48 SF’s, 41 PF’s and only 12 C’s.
