Maybe my biggest stock riser of the weekend among all age groups, Woidke was terrific in both games I caught of Ohio Buckets 16 U squad. A big-time competitor, Woidke had an injury that held him out for the second half of the football season and the basketball season for Saint Ignatius as a Sophomore. Excited to be back out on the court, his intensity was obvious from the moment he stepped on the floor. An impressive shooter from the outside, Woidke was knocking down shots off the bounce and catch from behind the 3-point line. I was also impressed by the burst Woidke showed with the ball in his hands and his ability to change speeds. A couple transition slams showed the explosiveness Woidke has as well. I’m excited to see Woidke back on the hardwood for the Wildcats next season as he’s got the potential to really surprise some people with his impact as a Junior.

The lone 15 U standout in this article, Washington shined for the Ohio Buckets 15 U squad. Washington has impressive physical tools with a long wingspan and is fast in transition. I was impressed with his ability to push the pace in transition, grabbing and going off rebounds and throwing ahead to teammates further down the court that led to a couple slam dunks. Washington then flashed some shooting ability with a couple mid-range pull-ups off the bounce either attacking a closeout or in the pick-and-roll. Finally, Washington converted himself on the fast break with an alley-oop layup finish as the Ohio Buckets 15 U squad ended the weekend 4-0.

Team Wildcat HGSL 16 U has a nice guard duo of Perkins and Jeremiah Landers Jeremiah Landers 6’1″ | CG Middletown | 2025 State OH in their backcourt. Perkins plays with good pace and under control, making a few really impressive passes off the live dribble. Another area where Perkins shined was with throw ahead passes to jumpstart the fast break for his team. After having a couple of his early 3-point attempts go in and out, Perkins found his range from the outside and started getting hot from long distance. With a couple guards, namely Lawrent Rice Lawrent Rice 6’4″ | PG Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State #184 Nation OH , graduating from Huber Heights Wayne then Perkins is set to take over control of the offense alongside a talented cast of returners this upcoming winter.

Another standout on Team Wildcat HGSL 16 U, Davis is more of a wing guard than a lead guard, but still fits the criteria for this article. I was impressed with his outside shooting ability, letting it fly from down-town early and often. A dangerous shooter off the catch, Davis moved well without the ball and showed no hesitation when one of his guards fed him the rock with his feet set. I was also impressed by Davis ability to play bigger than his height with a strong frame and impressive motor on the glass and defending in the post. I think the biggest area of improvement for Davis will be attacking the rim in the half-court, he has the physical tools to get all the way in the paint on drives and be a threat when attacking downhill.
I caught their only loss of the weekend, but I left impressed with Hopson Elite’s 16 U Jarrett squad. Urban is a wing guard who shot it well off the catch and found success attacking off dribble handoffs. Urban finished going to his left off either one or two feet and played within the offense. I was also impressed by one move he made where he used a reverse pivot to free himself from a defender and score.
The final prospect in this article had the defensive clamps on Sunday afternoon with a couple steals in the full court press his team used to get back into the game against Kyle Guy Elite HGSL 16 U. Mcalister finished around the rim with his left hand and played hard crashing the glass as well. However, his biggest impact came defensively as a run and jump defender and applying on-ball pressure. I’m excited to continue to follow Hopson Elite’s 16 U squad as they play an exciting brand of basketball with well-rounded production.
