While many coaches are looking for that sleeper senior, some have already moved on and are on to the class of 2024, while others already have class of 2025 prospects on their board. In an effort to help these guys out, he’s a list of some local players flying under the radar.
I think that coaches are kind of late to the game, simply because of how long it took to even identify where the senior forward was playing. He started out at DVP, before transferring to Trinity to play on the Grind Session. He also has improved his game a lot over the course of the last 6 months or so, becoming more of a traditional stretch big.
Lot of schools are looking for scoring guards and Zemmo is just that. He’s shifty and has the ability to create shots for himself. He’s received some interest from some Juco’s and other small schools, it’s just a matter of finding the right fit.
Don’t sleep on the Basic sharpshooter. He suffered a season ending leg injury that stunted his growth, however he was the leading scorer for a playoff team before suffering his setback. Look for him to be back on the court this grassroots season, as well as impress coaches with his outside shooting.
Taylor is another player that didn’t get an opportunity to showcase his talent this season, sitting out at DO after transferring from Sierra Vista. He is a remarkable two-way player, that competes with an attitude. While there may be questions regarding his absence last season, no one can question his production.
Tomlin is my number one priority to see this Spring. Size and athleticism is probably the two biggest things coaches are looking for right now and Tomlin has both. He was one of the best players in 3A this season, however I’m looking to see how he performs when he’s facing other players that can look him in the eye.
Young has proven that he can score the basketball during the high school season, now many will be watching to see if that translates during the more competitive grassroots season. He has the type of frame that will get coaches to stop and look, if he can put up similar numbers, they may also stay and offer.
Jones has always been a talented player, it’s just been a matter of him finding a consistent home. He already put together a strong performance last week in Colorado, showing that he is a player to have on the radar. His combination of his size, along with his unique skill set, is going to be enough to attract some college coaches attention ths Summer.
