. in foul trouble, Jones was responsible for protecting the paint most of the game on defense. I thought he did a pretty solid job, and the Blue Knights didn’t do too much damage from close range. On offense, Jones used his athleticism and size to overpower the DPAC forwards on a couple of his drives. Perhaps his best play of the day was a shifty move on the baseline that he ended up finishing.

It was great to see the improvement from Jones. The big body low post bully was physical with his ability to score around the basket. What was new was his ability to flash his handle in grab and go situations, as well as take his time on the block showing a nice touch around the basket.

The mecurial Jones could end up being the gem of the class. Don’t let his frame fool you. He is highly skilled, with passing, and low post ability. He’s shown the ability to beat opponents with brute force as well as his brain.

Mater East possessed an imposing 1-2 interior punch, as Jones brought size, and skill. The big man is surprisingly nimble, bulling his way into the lane, before finishing around the rim with a soft touch. He showed terrific IQ and passing ability as well, diming up several teammates when the double team came.

For about a 4 minute stretch in the third if you squinted you may have mistaken Jones for a young Shaquille O’neal. He simply couldn’t be stopped in the paint. The wide body low post player changed the game behind his third quarter performers helping the Knights reach the 3A title Game.

Despite his massive frame, Jones if more than comfortable playing away from the basket. The big man has the ability to stretch the floor, out to the high school three point line. With his size and overall frame, he can also be a dominating force on the inside.

Had several schools ask about Jones. The big body post has some skill, and displayed it en route to helping Mater take home the AZSTA bracket crown. He was a good interior defender, causing matchup nightmares with his size, while showing the ability to clean the glass on the defensive end.

Jones is one of the most unique players we have, however it’s his composure were he’s improved. The big man takes a Shaq like beating, but has learned to simply go to the line and make his free throws. Highly skilled big man is on the verge of opening some eyes.

Jones has always been a talented player, it’s just been a matter of him finding a consistent home. He already put together a strong performance last week in Colorado, showing that he is a player to have on the radar. His combination of his size, along with his unique skill set, is going to be enough to attract some college coaches attention ths Summer.
