Minnesota Fury came up just short against a really good AUSA team, but Brandon impressed with his ability to impact a game inside and out. It was some of the best basketball I’ve seen Brandon play as he came out hitting shots from deep, while also showcasing his soft touch around the basket. He may have been giving up a few inches to his man, but whoever was guarding him just wasn’t able to stick with Brandon on the perimeter allowing him to get into space for his jumper. He has a big, strong frame at 6’7 which allowed him to compete against the AUSA size, but is very nimble for a player his size which also allowed him to impact the game on the perimeter.
Highlights
Kayden was battling inside for Minnesota Select in their win over Colorado Miners. Against an athletic 6’8 forward, Kayden’s grit gave him the edge as he wasn’t giving up any easy looks or second chances. He did a great job of playing physical on defense while avoiding fouling too much, and always found a body to box out when a shot went up allowing him to rebound just about everything that came his way. If there’s a loose ball, Kayden is going to be the first one on the floor fighting for it. Offensively he had some tough finishes in traffic and kept possessions alive with his hustle on the glass.
Abe Andersen Abe Andersen 5’9″ | PG Minneapolis Southwest | 2024 State MN can flat out shoot the ball. He played JV at Minneapolis Southwest after transferring in for his junior year, but didn’t show any lack of confidence against some talented teams yesterday. Against an AUSA team filled with size, Abe was stretching the floor for his team as he knocked down a handful of threes from well beyond the arc. He has some of the deepest range in this whole event, and with a bit of an unorthodox release he seems to catch defenders off guard with his ability to quickly get a shot off. Made the bulk of his impact shooting the basketball, but wasn’t afraid to put it on the floor and attack a bad closeout to try to free up one of his teammates.
Shaun was one of the players I was looking forward to watching most this spring, and he boosted his stock in front of a baseline filled with college coaches yesterday. Particularly in the game against Real Phenom he was dominant utilizing his versatile skillset at 6’6. Was able to get to his spots for some mid-range pull-ups while also showcasing his fluid athleticism out in the open floor. Can make split second decisions in the paint in order to quickly change his direction and finish around a defender to avoid a charge. Defensively his length can cause issues for opponents, and he has the athleticism to guard smaller players while still moving his feet with them. Threw down a powerful transition dunk late in the game to cap off a big performance.

Daniel had a nice game for Minnesota Select in a close win over Texas Impact AE. At 6’7 he has a strong frame, but is a skilled and really smart player who doesn’t make many mistakes. When he caught in the post he was very patient, surveyed the floor for incoming double-teams or open teammates, and then went up balanced to finish over the top of his man. Showcased a nice mid-range game as well whenever his defender sagged off. Had one play in which he caught the ball beyond the half-court line, dribbled through a couple of defenders, and then showcased some athleticism at his size with a two handed dunk.
The Breck point guard seemed to be in multiple places at once on defense against MN Lightning. He has that level of quickness where he makes a massive impact both guarding the ball and making plays off the ball. Muhammad picked up a handful of steals by jumping passing lanes or by lunging in off the ball to cut off driving lanes. Then had the speed to go coast-to-coast and get all the way to the rim to finish. Has soft touch to go over the top of size with a floater, while also playing off two feet to avoid crashing into defenders can picking up charge calls.
Ryan is one of those players who can make a huge impact on the game while hardly shooting the ball. He’s one of the best passers in the 2024 class, as he can create looks for his teammates off the dribble, and also excels at launching deep passes up the floor leading to transition buckets for his teammates. Johnson brought a ton of toughness to the floor helping rebound and fight for loose balls, and even had a handful of blocks as a guard. Was sliding into help-side position and elevating straight up to get a piece of the ball. Even if his shot isn’t falling, you’re never going to question his motor as Ryan is going all out every minute that he’s on the floor.
