LUHI who played in the NIBC high school super league was allowed to play in the state federation championship as well, after some NY State High school athletic association conversations. Here are some of the amazing talented players we saw in this championship. Most of the players on the floor at the same time are being recruited or will be attending high major D1 programs. Take special notice of the class years of these players they will be well reported on nationally in the coming years.
We’ve been reporting on Jayden for his whole high school career. He is an explosive playmaker. Can shoot it from deep, drive it and finish through contact. A complete player. High level skill set. I’ve been very impressed with his passing skills and have praised it throughout my reports. After the game coach Roberts the coach of LUHI opponent Victor commented on his passing prowess.
Having two guys on the court who can both run the offense plus take a game over offensively is a plus. This is what Kayden adds to the LUHI attack. As capable as above mentioned Jayden. Kayden is a bigger guard and gets into the lane and can finish through contact. Excellent shooter. Very smooth with the ball in his hands.
Amdy possesses elite athletic ability. He showed the ability to block shots coming it seemed like out of no where. A rebounding machine. He hunts rebounds. He is a potential double-double player at the next level.
The New York State player of the year showed he was a worthy winner during this tournament. VJ makes big winning plays on both ends of the floor. He can play above the rim. He is a three level scorer. Has the willingness to play as hard offensively as he does defensively. A tremendous high level talent.
Quite possibly a matchup of the two best backcourts in the state. Boogie was able to handle the constant pressure during this tournament with skill and poise. An outstanding shooter. Like his opponent Jayden. Boogie can run the offense at the same time taking over games offensively. A three level scorer. Extremely crafty with the ball. An outstanding talent.
Danny completes the Stepinac backcourt. Just like so many in this game he has a high skill set. Makes winning plays. Handles it in tight spots or on the open floor. Outstanding shooter. Gets into the lane and can score or drop a dime.
One of the most underrated players in the state. A tenacious outstanding rebounder. A workhorse on the boards and in the paint. Defends the rim or the perimeter really well. Has developed a really strong offensive game. Scores around the basket. He has also improved his perimeter game. A winning player who does whatever it takes to win. With his work ethic he will be a tremendous addition to a program at the next level.
Braylan can do the dirty work on the floor. The added plus is he has a tremendous skill set. Braylan can score the ball. Has a soft touch and cleans up misses. A good defender. Uses his frame to rebound and defend the rim.
Jasiah a class of 2026 had a nice season and got a taste of the tournament finals. It will go a long way it helping this young athletic player with confidence. He has already shown he belongs. Excellent skill set. Scored 8 points in the final. Great potential .
Jayden was playing for the state championship while his future team the UCONN Huskies were making their own run to a national championship. Jayden is a smooth above the rim three level scorer. He is a high flyer who looks like he’s gliding through the air before he throws down a monsterous dunk. One of the nicest looking mid range jump shots very smooth and fluid. Ranked #5 in the state for the class of 2023.
