Hughes is a small but shifty guard that can create off the dribble and get to his spots. He loves to score from mid-range and hits a ton of pull-up jumpers from 15-20 feet out. Hughes is currently rising in stock and I expect a big step forward at New Manchester next year.
Kolier Pruett and his GATA squad will be making the trip down from Virginia and should provide some of the event’s top prospects. Pruett is coming off a huge year at Narrows High where he averaged 23 PPG and 12 RPG. Just looking at those numbers, I’m intrigued by Pruett’s ability to rebound like that at 6’3. His athleticism is clear from the film, an above-the-rim guard that runs the floor hard. Pruett will certainly be at the top of my list of new names to see.
Highlights
Jayden Hames Jayden Hames 6’1″ | PG Model | 2024 State GA had a solid junior campaign at Model and played a major role for the Blue Devils who exceeded expectations and reached the final four. Hames can really shoot the ball and won’t hesitate to pull it from deep. He also gets after it on the defensive end and plays with a high-motor all the time. While I haven’t seen Rome Elite yet this spring, I expect Hames to be a significant piece for them.
Jackson Taggart
Jackson Taggart
Two-sport stud, Jackson Taggart should be coming to Atlanta this weekend and looks like one of the event’s most physically imposing players on paper. Taggart is 6’8 with a ton of muscle and athleticism. I expect him to dominate the boards this weekend and should score a bunch of clean-up points. After receiving a handful of high-major football offers, Taggart will look to prove that he can do it on the basketball court as well.
Hayden Umoren
Hayden Umoren
Hayden Umoren showed some flashes of intrigue this year at Marietta, playing an important role as a sophomore, and should have the opportunity to shine this spring with Class Act Sports. He’ll provide perimeter scoring and can do so in a variety of ways, a good three-point shooter and also able to create with his dribble. Umoren is listed on both 16u and 17u rosters so I’m expecting him to swing with both teams, probably a top piece for the 16u group.
