Continue ReadingThe silky smooth play of Zyree is fun to watch. He’s got such a great feel for the game, understanding when to look for his shot and when to get others involved. Brown uses a sharp crossover to get downhill. He lulls defenders to sleep with how he is able to change speeds. Off the bounce, Zyree is extremely crafty. His handle is tight and how he manages to finish with tough layups and pull-up jumpers makes him extremely hard to corral. The athletic playmaker has impressive court vision and makes others around him better. Brown’s climb in the 2026 class is just beginning.
Barryn Botchey
Barryn Botchey
Botchey saw time during Paideia’s run to the Class A D-I State Championship. The undersized guard is quick and feisty. With his low center of gravity he is able to slither his way into the paint and drop off assists to his big men on the block. Barryn isn’t afraid to attack the hoop and will challenge defenders and get to the foul line.
The swingman can play multiple positions on the perimeter. He’s got very good size and is a strong athlete. He finishes with both hands at the rim. Taron is at his best in the paint as a slasher. If he misses a layup, he has a quick second leap to tip in points. I like Essex’s upside as a defender. He rebounds well and holds switchability.
Cam Smith
Cam Smith
Smith provides energy to the backcourt. He scores the ball in a variety of ways, able to hit jumpers or get to the hoop on drives. Listed at 5-foot-11, Cam plays bigger than his height. He rebounds well for a guard. Expect Cam to carve out big minutes at Woodstock his junior season, potentially filling in for some of the scoring left behind by Jamier Nowell.
Sam Mobbs
Sam Mobbs
Mobbs is an intriguing athlete that has grown over the past few years. A move from Chattooga to Trion cost him his sophomore season but now eligible as a junior, Sam will bring a much different dimension to the Bulldogs with his springiness around the rim.
Bol took a massive step forward his sophomore season, averaging 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. At 6-foot-2, Deng has nice size on the perimeter. Bol can play both on and off the ball. He’s a very good rebounder and a skillful slasher with eurosteps. Continuing to gain confidence in his three-point shot will really help his growth. His shot has a high, patient release. He netted 26 threes at a 30% rate this past season.
Beau Kelly
Beau Kelly
The lefty has a strong build. He is able to help out on the glass by muscling people out of position. Where Kelly shines most is with his three-point shot. He’s a streaky shooter that can bury consecutive long balls in a hurry.
