Evan Anderson – 2024 – SG – Wisconsin Playmakers
One of the biggest risers in the state this season, Anderson has blossomed into a terrific Division 2 prospect…possibly bordering on D1. A bouncy, three-level scorer that’s always in attack mode, Anderson was one of the most improved players over the last year. He’s really come into his own on both ends of the floor. He’s never going to say too much on the floor. Anderson just kicks your butt and jogs back to the other end of the floor. He’s gonna catch people by surprise athletically. A lanky two-guard, Anderson has springs in his shoes and he’ll throw it down off two feet in traffic. Also a consistent shooter from all areas of the floor, Anderson has the right tools and flow offensively for the college game. Doesn’t need a lot of space to shoot, quick release, scores on the move, extra gear when he needs it, etc.
Bennett Basich Bennett Basich 6'3" | SG Arrowhead | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Phenom University
Speaking with a lot of mid-major coaches, they love Basich’s toughness and heart. This is a kid that leaves it all on the floor every time he steps out there. There are prospects that just tie teams together and people you want in your program regardless of a role…this is it. Southern Illinois was the first to offer the Arrowhead standout and there’s a lot more D1 interest coming in. A knockdown shooter who can score at all three levels, Basich is a legit 6-foot-4 who can put the ball in the hole in a variety of ways. He’s hard-nosed when going to the rim and can even take guards down to the block and use his size there. A tenacious, hard-working, blue-collar talent, Basich is the first to the floor for every loose ball and elevates those around him with his passion for the game.

Jack Daugherty Jack Daugherty 6'8" | PF Brookfield Central | 2024 State #311 Nation WI – 2024 – F – Phenom University
Daugherty has been generating quite a bit of high major interest going into the eval period. As it stands now, the Brookfield Central product already holds ten mid-major offers. A player that’s gotten steadily better and worked towards his high upside, Daugherty is an intriguing 6-foot-8 combo forward who can shoot and handle the ball. He’ll simply size guys up and go to work on the matchup that’s across from him, regardless of who it is. Had my doubts early, but Daugherty has proven me wrong as someone who can be more effective on the perimeter. Thought initially, he’d be more of a stretch ‘4’ if anything. His handle, quickness, and ability to play lower to the ground have all drastically improved over the last two years. Think what may determine whether or not those high major offers come is on the defensive end. Not sure I’d label Daugherty a tweener, but can he be big and strong enough to hold down the fort against high major power forwards, but still be quick enough laterally to keep HM wings off the rim and chase them around the floor? The other thing to consider though too is Daugherty’s father is a seven-footer. We may not be seeing the finished product yet physically either.
WIll Hornseth – 2024 – PF – Wisconsin Blizzard
Think Hornseth is one of the top mid-major big man prospects in the country. Given today’s climate, it wouldn’t be shocking to see high major programs start to show attention as well. Not saying he’s wired any particular way, but should Hornseth hit the transfer portal in 3-5 years, think he could be the type of player that power-five programs crawl all over once he gets some experience at the Division 1 level. The 6-foot-8 forward is one of the most well put-together post prospects that’s come out of this state in a long time. Hornseth does everything well on the floor — post footwork, post position, scores around the rim, passes out of double teams, protects the paint, rebounds, shoots it from the outside — he just checks a ton of boxes. St. Thomas, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Green Bay, and Toledo have all offered Hornseth. I think he can double his list this spring.
Jaquan Johnson Jaquan Johnson 5'10" | PG Pius XI | 2024 State WI – 2024 – PG – Wisconsin Playground Club
Eventually, the cream always rises to the top. Johnson has been dominating the AAU circuit for so long. At some point, more Division 1 schools have to just take a chance on this 5-foot-9 point guard who gives everybody from coast to coast the business. One of the toughest players I’ve ever covered, Johnson has a noticeable desire to win and succeed. While he doesn’t have prototypical size, Johnson is one of those prospects poised to defied the odds and there’s a handful in every class. He’s got elite upper body strength at the rim, blow-by ability on the ball, deadly outside shooting ability that extends well past the arc, and the drive and dish court vision for an uptempo system. Johnson holds three Division 1 offers going into the eval period.

Nolan Minessale Nolan Minessale 6'5" | SF Marquette | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SF – Chapman Basketball Academy
Interested to see what happens here. Minesalle exceeded all expectations during his junior season. We knew he was on the come-up, but didn’t foresee the numbers and team success he’d have at Marquette last season. Still just a baby physically, Minesalle is a super long, freaky athletic wing that’s got maybe as good of a ceiling as anyone in this 2024 class for Wisconsin outside 1-2 guys. A terrific slasher who’s also an impact player defensively, Minesalle has a lot of tools to work with, yet probably won’t be a finished product any time soon, which makes his Division 1 stock very high for somebody currently sitting without an offer.
Cody Schmitz Cody Schmitz 6'4" | SG Gale Ettrick-Trempeleau | 2024 State WI – 2024 – SG – Wisconsin Blizzard
Would expect Schmitz to have a good share of Division 2 offers by the end of the summer. The G-E-T standout is a strong, athletic, scoring-minded wing who can also beat defenses as a facilitator. Love the unwillingness to settle for jumpers. Schmitz wants to get downhill and has very quick feet for a 6-foot-4 wing. Once he gets to the rim, Schmitz has that sneaky athleticism to elevate over the top. Also able to play off the ball and hunt shots off screens, Schmitz can be a tireless worker at times moving without the basketball. Definitely more of a 2-guard, Schmitz can serve as an extra ball handler and has shown to be a competent point guard when needed.
