Schulte made his presence felt in the quarterfinals. He’s powerful in the paint and tough to move under the rim. Schulte paced his Marine City squad with 16 points.
Frantz showed why he’s considered one of the top freshman in the state. Even if a win or go home game, he certainly didn’t play like a freshman. Frantz controlled the feel of the game and led his team with 16 points.
This is exactly why Estrada was added to the 2023 prospect rankings recently. He’s a good ball handler and smart decision maker for a talented Grand Ledge team. He finished the quarterfinal game with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Yeah, this is why Mattawan won’t be an easy out this season. They have a couple very good and very talented players. In his team’s victory, Vanlaningham did Vanlaningham things. He showed one of the prettiest jumpers in the state as well as went at the rim on his way to a game high 29 points.
Vanlaningham wasn’t the only Mattawan star in the offensive showcase that ended in a 78-73 Mattawan win against Loy Norrix. Kiesling is a talented prospect that probably deserves more press. He had 20 points in the contest.

Flynn is a freshman to keep an eye on in the coming years. He’s an aggressive multi level scorer and was just that last night. He went crazy in the quarters, dropping 29 points in the impressive win against Mancelona.
Long certainly did go crazy in the quarterfinals. Vassar came out on top in a competitive 64-59 win. He absolutely went off, blazing the nets for 33 total points on the night. Vassar is tough to stop when Long gets in a groove.

I’ve heard through the grapevine that Crosby can shoot the basketball and do it with 3 point range. Well, he showed if off last night finishing with 20 points in the quarterfinal win.
Whitaker might have walked home with the opening night MOP. He absolutely torched the nets in a 75-61 win against Kenowa Hills. Whitaker scored a game high 35 points, with 27 of those coming via the 3 point shot. Let’s not forget that he also added 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Reynolds was added to the Prep Hoops prospect rankings and showed why last night. He lit up the scoreboard with 29 points, leading his team to an 81-75 quarterfinal win.
Watch out, because Salem has a couple of guys that can score the basketball. Peters made a terrific scoring duo with Reynolds as he dropped 23 of his own. Pryor also dished out 4 assists.

Kretschman was key in Coopersville’s quarterfinal victory. He paced the team with an efficiently scored 20 points.
Terrance Smith
Terrance Smith
Smith is a fleet footed player that opponents have a very tough time staying in front of. His skills and versatility were on display last night as he scored 19 points and added 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Smith’s team moved on to the semifinals with a 74-33.
Fitzpatrick jut wouldn’t let his team’s season end in the quarterfinals. His athletic and fiery game shined in Haslett’s win against Fowlerville. Fitzpatrick set the tone for the team with 17 points.

Ryan Brim
Brim went crazy to say the least. He had a dominating double-double in the 57-53 victory against Owosso. Brim ended the game with 24 points and 17 rebounds. He also became the Mt. Morris all time leader in rebounds. Now that is going crazy in the quarters.
Nate Rooker
Nate Rooker
Lutheran Westland upended Melvindale in the quarterfinals 50-35. Rooker led the way coming up with a clutch and key 18 points.
Oxford was impressive in their 68-49 win against Lapeer. Champagne was a big part of the quality win. He went crazy in the quartfinals dropping in a dominant 26 points.
Dorn is a pressure player so it’s no surprise that he went crazy last night in a win or go home game. Dorn paced his Riverview team with 21 points and advanced to the semis.
Highlights
Neuhaus is going to be dangerous in these playoffs and he was just that last night. In an impressive 69-50 win against Wyoming, he led the way with 22 points.
Highlights
This is a very good freshman class in Michigan and Huckeby is definitely a reason why. The skilled guard went crazy in the first round with an eye-popping 31 points. It really looks there will be many crazy nights in Huckeby’s basketball future.
