There’s still plenty of talent left for scholarship and Division III programs to pick up some size in the paint so let’s profile the best of the uncommitted bigs in the state.
One of the more physically dominant centers, Stratford has had a big body since his freshman year at STVM. Going through development over the years, Stratford waited his turn to become a starter and a key contributor and made improvements every year under the great coaching staff the Irish boast. Stratford has the body to be ready to play from day one and will not back down physically from older competition. I’m surprised Stratford hasn’t attracted more recruiting interest to this point from college programs.
One of the most productive bigs in northeast Ohio over the past few years, Garito goes down in the record books at Brecksville for his rebounding and scoring numbers. Garito has proven himself to be able to score around the rim and is a relentless rebounder as well. Another big bodied center who won’t back down from older guys at the next level, Garito is another available big who should be getting more college interest.
A knee injury sidelined Djigo from the summer and through his senior high school season. Djigo was a fast rising big before the injury with impressive athleticism and had been making strides as an offensive player. While he hasn’t played in around 9 months, I think Djigo is an interesting bet for scholarship programs if he can recover fully from his injury.
Another northeast Ohio big still available, Williams is a high energy big who thrives with blocking shots and grabbing rebounds on both ends of the court. Williams had a triple double with points, rebounds and blocks earlier this season for Brush. Scholarship programs should take a look at Williams as somebody who will protect the rim for them.
Highlights
Provitt is one of the most intriguing available big men as he’s really taken a sharp rise over his senior season and gets better each time I watch him play. With his fluidity as an athlete and progression as a scorer, Provitt is a prospect we could look back in a few years and see how he had a great college career. Provitt might not be ready to play day one at a college program but if a school develops him, he could be a key piece in a few seasons.
