One of the most athletic wings in Northwest Ohio, Hicks has a great frame and explosive athleticism. Having a very productive season for Cardinal Stritch, Hicks had 19 points and 10 rebounds against Emmanuel Christian in a big conference win for his team. Hicks was also named to the initial All-BCSN team, honoring the top players in the Toledo area. Hicks has been recruited by regional Division III schools due to his athleticism and production. Worth a look for those looking to get stronger and more athletic at the wing forward position.
A stretch forward, Powell is a prototypical stretch 4 for small college programs. For those schools looking for a guy who can space the floor and provide size and rebounding, Powell is a name for small college programs to take a look at. Powell impressed at ‘The Challenge’ and New Albany has had a competitive season in a tough OCC division, might be a sleeper team to make some noise in the playoffs.
Another athletic wing, Lawson is a highflyer who will be best used in transition at the next level. A dangerous slasher, Lawson uses his quickness, size and shiftiness to get to the basket and finish past rim protectors. Currently with interest from Dean College, Pitt Bradford and a few others, Lawson is a quality target for small college programs looking to get more athletic on the wing with a slasher.
Klanac is a skilled wing who fits in perfectly with Medina’s fast tempo that relies on quick passing and shooting from the outside. Having a strong end to his senior season, Klanac is playing the best basketball of his career over the past month or so. After setting a career high at the Chet Mason Invitational, Klanac boosted his stock in front of small college coaches from around the region.
An athletic wing, Smith has had some highlight reel dunks this season for Marysville. With Smith’s athleticism, defensive ability and scoring around the basket, he’s a great candidate to fill a role for a small college program on the wing. Impressed with how he will fit into a system at the next level, I think Smith might be a plug and play guy for Division III schools on the wing.
Highlights
Rountree was a standout on the Prep Hoops Circuit with Team Takeoff and continued his impressive play with Kettering Fairmont as a senior. A big game at Flyin’ To The Hoop showed me that Rountree needed to be added to our rankings due to his versatility from the wing. Rountree is scoring 8.3 PPG and grabbing 3.8 RPG as well. A capable shooter from the outside, Rountree is shooting 44% from 3 on 36 attempts this season. Small college programs should give Rountree a look at the wing position with the amount of boxes he checks.
The only committed prospect on this list, Measel had numerous small college programs interested in him before committing to Saint Vincent College. A steady performer, Measel is a knockdown shooter from the wing and has had a productive senior season in one of the toughest conferences in the state. Measel also was a standout at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in the Fall.
