Tuesday night we saw Valley Christian take down the Bellarmine Bells 59-56 in a WCAL contest. Here’s our Tuesday standouts.
The 6’6 long armed Junior did most of his work coming off the bench. He had quality minutes. He had a solid game working in the post area, and running the court for transition layups, and put back baskets. He uses his length and a soft touch off the backboard to score around the basket. He’s strong on the baseline drive using his body to shield the ball on the drive. He hit the paint jumper, and did well going after rebounds. 12pts off the bench.
He was a good floor leader in this game. He’s playing at a good pace and making good decisions with the ball. He did well pushing and passing up court. He had good takes off the dribble, with a nice crossover move to get into the paint. Off the ball he hit a couple of mid-range jumpers, filled lanes in transition. He played with good tenacity on defense. 10pts, 3asts.

Tarik Weiser
He’s an effective point guard on this team. He has quality handles with good speed, and footwork for the position. He’s kind of clever with the ball. He surveys on the move looking for cutters, shooters, and lobs into the post. He had good hard drives into the paint from the top and along the baseline. A good ball mover. He had 3-3’s, for 12pts, 5asts, 2stls.
He’s a standout football player for the Bells. In this game he was the best post player racking up a double double, by our count he collected 14 rebounds to go with 19 points, mostly on points in the paint and put backs, and two blocks. At 6’6 he has foot work, balance, and plays with patience getting others to jump using a pump fake.
Harpers becoming the glue guy for this team. He works hard to defend bigger players in the post, and faster players on the perimeter. He showed good energy going after rebounds on both ends after picking up two early fouls. He didn’t necessarily get the ball, but he made a good effort to fill the lanes in transitions, and to stop the ball getting back on defense. He’s a solid body athlete who can contribute in multiple ways on the court. He has a solid mid-range game, and help on the boards. 6rebs.
The 6’1 Freshman is a good contributor coming off the bench. He fits the combo guard position well at this point, as he can do a bit of ball handling with good passing, and he’ll be aggressive taking it to the basket from the perimeter and in transition. He moves well without the ball, cutting and setting solid screens for others. He showed he can use his handle to get into the paint. He hit a mid-range jumper, and dropped a corner 3.
