The small school in Oakland served as a neutral site for Athenian, and Head-Royce, two schools who hope to make some noise in Division 5 when the play-offs begin next week. Head-Royce has a record of 24-3, 9-1 their only league loss was to Athenian 18-5, 8-2. They split during the season. It was only fitting that the title game was the rubber match. Head-Royce wins 47-45. Here’s a couple of prospects who we thought stood out.
Marcel Pierre-louise 6’7 2024 Forward from Head-Royce
He showed he could have his way at times during the game. He has a solid inside game using muscle, and force to get paint points, and rebounds. He has good touch inside using a jump hook, and paint jumpers, but could power up and finish as well. He has some freedom to work on the perimeter using his dribble to get into the paint. 13pts, 8rebs, 3blks.
Evan Lucas 6’2 2024 Guard from Athenian
Lucas gets it done on both sides of the ball. He’s a good conditioned guard who can play long minutes. He’s a good on ball defender able to guard scorers. He has good foot work, lateral movement, active arms, and he fights through screens. He can play both guard positions, but he’s called to put points on the board for this team. He can create for himself, his one dribble, side step or step back 3ptr was done right. He handles doubles teams, splits the defense, and he makes his free throws. 22pts, 3-3’s, 3rebs, 2stls.
Teni Salako 6’5 2025 Forward of Athenian
It was our first look at Salako, we liked the energy and effort he puts forward going after rebounds, blocks, and defending in the post. He has good reactions and a second jump that keeps him active. His offense is a work in progress any improvement and his stock goes up. He does get put backs, later he showed a paint jumper. We’ll keep an eye on him. 3pts, 10rebs, 4blks, 1stl.
Andre Iguodala 6’6 2025 Wing from Head-Royce
He has a long wing span to take up passing lanes, and get deflections. He’s on the thin side but will use his length to get blocks and rebounds. He’s still tuning his game, but did show he’s comfortable working on the perimeter, and staying wide in transition. He can handle using a dribble or two with his long strides to get close to the rim, he hit a 3ptr, and sees the court to deliver solid passes. 8pts, 3asts, 2blks.
Bryce Clepper Bryce Clepper 5'9" | PG Head-Royce | 2025 State CA-N 5’8 2025 PG from Head-Royce
He’s a slick handling confident point guard that probes, and looks for openings to attack from different angles, using a crossover, and stop and go to get into the paint for floaters, and dishes. He has good vision, he made nice bounce passes into the post. He mostly penetrates to dish but can score. He does a good job setting the offense. 4pts, 2rebs, 2asts, 2stls.
Sura Devasenapathy 6’0 2024 Guard from Athenian
He’s a good ball handling guard that shows patience and good decision making. The lefty has long arms to swoop a cross the lane for layups on the drive. He’s on the thin side but holds his own bringing the ball up court under pressure. He hit a couple 3’s when needed down the stretch. 11pts, 2-3’s.
Micah Nyamuzuwe Micah Nyamuzuwe 6'2" | SG Head-Royce | 2025 State CA-N 6’1 2025 CG from Head-Royce
A solid guard who does a good job of running the offense when called upon. He plays under control most of the time. He’s a solid body with decent handles, he did well attacking the basket from different areas, and playing off two feet. He’ll finish strong going to the basket in transition, he might throw one down. He did well defending on the perimeter. 7pts 1-3.
