Sanderson accumulated 21 points and 12 assists to pace a high powered offensive showing from GVC. He also did this all while face guarding the Norseman’s leading scorer in Isaiah Naylor Isaiah Naylor 6'0" | SG Roland-Story | 2023 State IA . Sanderson was in a low defensive stance, had active hands, and was flying around for loose balls on the defensive end. He never showed any sign of fatigue all night and will no doubt be a determining factor in the Thunder’s hopes in returning to the 1A State Championship game!
Trevian Carson Trevian Carson 6'4" | SG Valley | 2023 State IA 2023 Valley: I become more of a fan of Carson everytime I catch him on the court! I had Carson down for 15 points and 9 rebounds in the Tigers upset win over #1 Waukee Northwest Tuesday night. The 6’3 senior plays well above his listed size and you can find him getting a hand on almost every possible rebound. He plays well off of two feet and has no problem attacking a crowded paint and finishing over defenders. Carson and a loaded sophomore Tiger class are certainly playing good basketball and setting up for a tough matchup come playoff time for any team they matchup against!
Kiki Deng Kiki Deng 6'4" | SG Valley | 2025 State IA 2025 Valley: One of the Tigers in a loaded 2025 class, the 6’4 wing had an outstanding game against the Wolves! Deng hit an early 3 pointer in the contest and kept his foot on the gas scoring a team high 21. He is a problem running in transition as he strides out so well covering ground better than most. He finishes great with both hands around the basket, and had a very difficult left handed and-1 bucket late in the 4th quarter to all but seal the upset win for Valley.
Jonovan Wilkinson Jonovan Wilkinson 6'2" | SF Roland-Story | 2024 State IA 2024 Roland-Story: Wilkinson left me very impressed my first time seeing him Thursday night. He showed that he can be a very solid scoring option alongside Naylor for the Norseman. The 6’2 senior did a great job in utilizing his size and skillset to get to his scoring spots and hit midrange after midrange. He also showed his shooting stroke from deep as he let a couple 3 balls rain in. All in all, Wilkinson led Roland-Story in scoring with 21 points while also gathering 8 rebounds.
Emiliano Barrantes Emiliano Barrantes 6'9" | PF Grand View Christian | 2025 State IA 2025 Grand View Christian: Barrantes will no doubt be a fun player to watch for the Thunder for the next few years. Standing at 6’9, matchup problems are oozing with this talented sophomore who can stretch the floor with a nice shooting stroke and score it inside around the hoop. He does an outstanding job working for position, whether it’s for a post-up or battling for a good offensive rebounding angle. Tallying 16 points and 15 rebounds, (6 of which were offensive with a couple leading to and-1 putback attempts) Barrantes proved to be one of the best underclass post players I have seen this 2022-23 Iowa High School season!
